Tx Roofing Co, owned by Ray Ishida, replaced my roof in January 2013 at a cost of $18,000.00. After several months, the standing seam portion of the roof began to leak. I contacted Ray to inform him of the leak and after numerous calls and emails he finally sent someone out to repair the roof. A few days after the repairs were made, the roof leaked again. Ray has now tried to repair my roof 3 times and has still not been able to correct the issue and the roof continues to leak. Each time I contacted Ray, it would be several days or weeks before he would send someone out to make the repairs. In June, I received an email from Ray stating that the 3rd attempt to repair the roof had been completed and that “he was confident that it will not leak” but there were some cosmetic issues that still needed to be fixed. After these numerous attempts for Ray to fix the roof ill leaked, I had an independent roofer come inspect the roof to determine what the issues were. The independent roofer advised the following: Metal sheeting had been cut to short, unsightly caulking all over the metal flashing, shingles that were put on during the repairs that didn’t match the rest of the roof, painted flashing that had been unsightly pieced, wrong color or touch up paint used, etc. I forwarded this information to Ray and provided pictures of their unsightly work. I received a reply back from Ray with a “Letter of Intent” agreeing with the findings identified by the independent roofer. Ray stated the following in his letter of intent: • He would “restore the metal roof, shingle roof and work area to a like new status as well as the new painted area effected below in your patio” • “A new leak from two and half weeks ago revealed and inconceivable and unsatisfactory job by his subs along with sloppy repairs seems to have made this go to another level that I am used to or comfortable with” • He further stated… “If the roof cannot be restored to my satisfaction, and maintain a waterproof membrane, we will have no choice but to tear off the patio completely as well as the shingles around the structure to rebuild the metal covered patio with a different contractor provided by us, or a contractor of your preference.” • “If we are unable to repair or restore we will rebuild the entire structure” • He asked for 3-4 business days to schedule his roofer to fix this issue Four days later, I advised Ray that the roof was leaking again, even though he had stated in his email to me “he was confident it wouldn’t leak”. Due to his inability to fix the leak, the unsightly repair work that had been done during the previous repairs, and that based on his own “letter of Intent” I wanted the contractor of my choice to fix the repairs. Ray will not honor is letter of intent and continues to say he will fix it but never does.. He continues to say he will fix the problem in the next 3 - 4 business days , but that never happens! Based on the events above, I think it is evident that Ray is not capable, is unwilling, and has no interest in fixing the roof no matter what he says. He continues to make promises and provide excuses for why the repairs are not made. He was eager to get his payment after the roof was completed, but not willing to be professional and take the immediate and necessary steps to resolve this situation. During this entire process, Ray has not once called me to work these issues out. He only responds very slowly via email. Only telephone contact was me calling him and him assuring me during those calls he would handle everything and make things right. He was never on site during the repairs and only viewed the repairs due to my continued request for him to view his subs work. When Ray did view the work, he responded to me with “the workmanship was horrible, that he should have installed the standing seam roof first before he replaced the roof, and that the extent of the work was short cuts”. There is no dispute that the roof was improperly installed and that the repairs were unsightly and didn't fix the leak, Ray has acknowledged this in multiple emails to me...., but has chosen to ignore and stonewall the repair process. Do not use TX Roofing Company for any roof repairs.
