Back in August, 2014 our security light was disconnected - no matter the bulb had been out.  I only paid 15.00 a month with this and NO meter was hooked up to it.    I turned it off September 9, 2014.

I expected a disconnect fee (they removed the bulb) - but was shocked when they *SAID* (customer service) said the final bill was $110!!!   Ok, I just paid it....

Now I'm getting collection calls and bills for an additional $67.00!!!!  Due October 2, 2014.

WHAT is going on?  Called customer service and asked for supervisors, etc.....  Nobody was helpful in explaining why THE HUGE increase?   110 + 67 = 177.00   How can that be???  A 15.00/month security light goes up to 177????  In Two months?

This is what I figured.....  $30 (past due) and 50/disconnect fee.  That is eighty dollars (80)... ok then maybe the taxes were the next $30....  So like I said I paid it, with customer service saying it WAS the final bill.

In the end, I paid it, the 67.00, stating PAID IN PROTEST.

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!  NO explainations.    Total Rip Off.

Sir, I agree with you about how that doesn't sound right at all. My suggestion would be for you to check your final bill and at least the last three bills for the guardlight (the ones you got for about $15), but more extensively the final one, since a customer service agent/supervisor would do exactly the same thing in order to track the so-called extra charges.

There's so much to take into consideration before calling it a TXU energy ripoff. I'm pretty sure the extra amounts (excluding the TDU fee for the disconnection) can be easily tracked, and most likely as a «Balance transfer» item, and that, of course, has a downright explanation. In the case there has been a mistake on TXU's behalf, I know it's been a while but you can definitely ask for a refund.

Call toll-free at 800-242-9113 and if the explanations are still not satisfactory, ask to speak to the Resolution Specialist at the Office of the CEO. This type of mischievous cases are their area of expertise.
