copy of email sent to company which outlines our poor experience, (2 weeks later, they still have NOT responded to me)

I am demanding a refund of $125 for the cost of a helicopter tour for two over Denver that never materialized as a result of the gross ineptitude and egregious administration of TYJ Global.  Below is our account of the events leading up to the “final straw” that sparked this letter.

After purchasing a coupon in October of 2012 from TravelZoo for a helicopter ride for two for the “promotional value” of $125, we have been trying schedule the tour since at least April of 2013.  My wife was pregnant at the time, so we did rescheduled twice (we were passed off to a new person every time we called), but your company also mismanaged those changes, expecting us to be prepared to leave on one date when we had called in advance to cancel/reschedule.  After that experience, we mutually agreed to revisit the scheduling of the tour in September. Unfortunately, the floods hit at that time and TYJ Global was understandably pulled into relief efforts.

Beginning in August, I have spoken to, texted or e-mailed with Gina, Stuart, and Larry, in an attempt to reschedule the flight/tour.  Finally, on October 10 Gina assured me personally via text and phone that we were scheduled for November 16, 2013 at 2PM at Centennial airport (TAC Air terminal 1) with back-to-back flights so that our friends could also use their TravelZoo coupons the same day.  Larry made a point to mention that we should arrive early and that either he or Raymond will be our pilot that day.  He assured me that we were confirmed for November 16, 2013 at 2PM at Centennial airport, TAC Air terminal 1.

We all arrived promptly up at 1:30 on November 16 for the tour and TYJ Global was a no-show, which was disappointing and infuriating after all the false starts that I had endured with your company.  Ultimately it was a complete waste of our time.

Does your company not have a cancelation policy?  How hard is it to pick up the phone and call your client to reschedule it you can’t make it?  Between my friends and I, we called every phone number we knew of for your company and two of the numbers were DISCONNECTED (Gina @ 720-339-8757 & Stuart @ 720-606-9029, which sent up a red flag), while the other numbers either went straight to voicemail and the voicemailboxes were full.  I have not received a call back. (Nor do I expect one.)  I received your email/newsletter sent November 12, which does NOT suffice as a notice of cancellation of our standing reservation, as well as your failure to answer the phone from November, 12 - 16 when I calledrepeatedly to inquire about our specific reservation this past Saturday.

I am alarmed that your company can be so nonchalant about this thievery;  clearly you do not value your reputation, which is not hard to discredit and dismantle in this age of brutally honest social media.  I am a proud to be third generation military and I’m currently employed at the Denver Federal Center.  I have a far reaching network of military, veteran and federal government contacts locally and globally.  I am giving you the chance to make this right and refund the $125 to me directly post haste, or I will do what it takes to make it known that your company is unprofessional, untrustworthy and suspiciously predatory.

Incidentally, the TAC Air manager informed us that another couple was stood up the week before as well and he was disgusted that the TAC Air name was being associated with your company.

I'm currently awaiting resolution from Travel Zoo (if any)

Similar bad experience with TYJ Global

I had a similar bad experience with TYJ Global. I purchased a 30 minute helicopter tour for two from Groupon. The purchase price was $150. I purchased the voucher in May of 2013. I initially made some calls and found it was very hard to get a hold of TYJ to schedule. Once I got a hold of them, I was told that it was a minimum of 6 week wait for a helicopter tour. I needed to (unfortunately) call back after checking my schedule. I found myself having trouble getting ahold of them, again.

Finally, in October 2013, I was able to schedule a flight for November 23, 2013. I was excited for a dusk flight over Denver. The man on the phone even explained that they would move it to a closer airport. He said their location is too far from Denver to tour Denver. I thought that was somewhat considerate of them. 3 days prior to the scheduled flight, I was called by the company and told that the helicopter had a mechanical problem. They said that they would not be able to do the scheduled flight. I was told that once the helicopter was repiared, they would call me to schedule another flight.

Two months went by, I still hadn't heard anything. I tried contacting them and continually get sent to a voicemail that is full. Several times the voicemail said they were closed until Monday because they are moving locations. Today I tried calling again and was met with the same voicemail. The mailbox is still full. I contacted Groupon (via phone) and explained the situation. They immediately refunded the $150 to Groupon credit.

I hope this has helped and that people who have been ripped off find a way to get their money back. Good luck.
