We booked our honeymoon flight for December 09 with U.S Airways in early September 09 and received our confirmation. (They also charged our miles and fees for taxes and booking fees right away)

In early October 09 we had a voicemail message on our mailbox from US Airways telling us that they decided to not fly to Rio de Janeiro in early December like they planned (and sold to us!) but only mid of December. Therefore we do not have a flight booked with them any longer as stated by their employee.

We had a cruise booked and it really needed to fly as we had booked so we were forced to book with a different company for additional $2000. I don't have to mentione that this was a bad start into our honeymoon.

They refunded the miles that were used to book the flight that they cancelled on us but refused to pay back the booking fee of $100 and taxes. After a couple of very unpleasent phone calls with their very rude and unable customer service and the transfer to the manager they agreed to pay back the taxes but mentioned that they 'might not be able to refund the booking fee'. After a very angry argument about this, since they cancelled the flight on us and have no right to keep a booking fee for a fligth that never took place due to them they agreed on sending us the refund and gave us a refund number.

Weeks and weeks later the refund for the taxes was received but there was no refund for the booking fee. Another two calls to the company followed and among being rude, hanging up on us and not knowing anything about the refund number they seem very unwilling to work with us for problems that they have caused in the first place.

They argue that the refund number is no longer in their system and that we have to type in our refund request again using their homepage. The homepage for refund requestes is down half of the time!

We asked them repeatedly to give us a call back and we are being ignored. It's quite obvious they don't want to work with us on this.

Save yourself the bad treatment and the headache and fly with a real airline. This company should be ashamed of themselves and their dirty methods and bad customer service.

To U.S Airways: I am still waiting for the refund and a call back!

Got our money back!

#2Author of original report

We finally got our money back after I emailed them every single day for about three weeks. I was just getting ready to call them every day, when apparently they decided to give up and give us our money back.
