I was contacted by U-Talk Unlimited on 6/11/04 with an offer of $200 worth of gas coupons and offers for long distance phone service, health insurance and coupons for retail merchandise. I was told that after I got the paperwork describing these offers that I would have 7 days to call and cancel and would only have to pay the initial $3.95.

I called back to U-Talk Unlimited on 6/18/04 because I had not received any paperwork. I was told that it would be another 7 days. I finally received the paperwork on 6/18/04. I noticed that there was neither a date on the paperwork nor a postmark date of any kind.

I called to U-Talk Unlimited on 6/29/04 to cancel the phone service and while on the phone I asked if I would need to call Well Net and American Values separately or would they (U-Talk) take care of all of the cancellations. I was told that I would have to call the others separately, which I did immediately.

Sometime later I went to my ATM to transfer some $400 from my savings to checking and I noticed that I only had $150 in my checking account. I later found out that there had been 2 withdrawals from my checking account on 6/30/04. I went to my bank immediately to report the unauthorized debits and to my surprise they were very helpful. Later when I received my bank statement I noticed that there were 2 other withdrawals on 6/17/04. This was less than 7 days after the initial scam call. Again my bank was very helpful.

I got the Federal Regulation E form and my bank was very helpful in fillinf it out. They even added the 6/17/04 withdrawals to the original form for me. There was also one worker who told me that when I send my letter of complaint to U-Talk Unlimited that I shluld cc the letter to their local Better Business Bureau in southern Nevada which covers the Las Vegas area and cc to the State Office of Corporations.

I have one other bit of advice. If you should decide to try to get U-Talk Unlimited to refund your moneys request a Postal Money Order because I know that a stop payment can be made on a cashier's check.
