Complaint Review: Ugly F***ing Duck

I bought a car from Ugly Duckling in Oct, 2000
I just moved here from Washington DC and did not have a lot of money. I saw there ad and ran down there. I saw a beautiful 1992 Ford Explorer. I asked a sales man if I could take it for a spin. The car ran great and it was in mint condition.

They allowed me to put $1000 down and finance the rest. I thought I walk away with a great deal! All was going well. Until two weeks after I bought the car I started to smell oil burning. I took it in to a well known shop I worked next to.

The did a complete check of the car. It turned out the car had about $1,500 worth of work "if I wanted to keep driving it" was the qoute to me. I had them do basic work $300. I called UG (Ugly Duckling) and asked to speak to the sales man.

He refered me to the manager who never got back to me. This went on for several days. And like clock work month by month my beloved SUV was slowly dying and it was costing me a fortune. My engine finally blow on the way to the Game 7 World Series.

I finally contact Better Business and filled a complaint and the Attorney Genera. Both have told me there is not much they can do except to "keep it on record" I quit paying on the car. They UD can go fu** Thenselves. Total cost to date to fix car is $5,200
