Where should I begin? Well it was the summer of 2000 and my Husband and I had been shopping at hundreds of different car dealers and were lead to no other resort than Ugly Duckling.

My Husband and I were greated with smiling faces and friendly aditudes, little did We know our troubles were about to begin.First we were offered only 4 different choices of cars that were the year of 1993, once the decission was made we drove it around the lot and there was no Air Cond. The Mgr at the time said he would fix the problem if we decided to buy the car, and eventually the mechanics did 3 months later.

The problems continued one right after the other, brakes, clutch, oil leaks, alternator, belts, battery, all shocks, axl, motor mounts, cracked transmission, and not to mention the car has been labled a GROSS POLLUTOR and will not pass smog.

My Husband and I have replaced everything in the car, except the latest problem which happend while driving on the street the car just stopped and we had it towed to our mechanic who said the transmission is cracked, rear axl is broken, busted motor mounts and the car wont pass smog.

My Husband and I have contacted Corp. and have received no help. We have put more money into the car than it is worth and were not gonna take the abuse any more.

So anywaise, I guess you can figure out what we did next!!!

The moral of this true story is we all have rights, and most of us learn from our mistakes. I'd rather it sit on a report for 7 yrs.

how to handle Repo from the Duck

#2Consumer Suggestion

Wed, June 12, 2002

We have also filed our own Rip Off Report against the Duck, and as you have, are going the way of voluntarily repo. Here is our suggestion: Yes, it will appear on your credit report. HOWEVER, make 3 copies of your rip off report complaint (and the link to the many many others on the Duck) and send a copy to each of the credit bureaus with a brief letter explaining why you had the car repossessed.

When your credit is checked...that letter and the Rip Off Report will be on your file for creditors to see if needed. Trust me, I know how it feels to be duped by the Duck.

Check out our report dated 4/21/02. And the light at the end of the story is...BEFORE we turned in the Ugly Duck car...we went to a local DEALER...(brand name dealer) and we purchased not one but TWO cars within 2 weeks time!!! IT CAN BE DONE!

There are internet loan companies out there...and that was how we were able to get a DECENT car to replace that crappy Bonneville we got from the DUck.

Also, we are driving NEWER cars with LESS miles...for LESS money AND we have a 2 year warranty on each used car we now own. Keep the faith and look around...dealers will help you. We just wish we knew this before going to the DUck.
