I just found out that at 30% interest, anything becomes against the law. It is considered loansharking. Ugly duckling stands so close on the boarder it is retarded.

I too have fallen victim to the scams, and lies of this company, and without much I can do, I surely wish the demise of these people who blatantly lie about what they are selling.

I had no credit, and needed a car. Such is the same with most of the Duckling victims. Promises, Promises. I purchased a 93 ford ranger with 74000 miles on it. I figured hey, at least the milage wasn't too high. The 8000 sticker price, turned into 13000 when all was said and done.

So here I am 16 months later, I have only put 8000 miles on my truck, and have had to replace the brakes, the serpintine belt, hoses, tires, and now need a new clutch desperately.

I guess I have no one to blame but myself, I knew what I was getting into, but I had no idea it would be this bad. What still kills me is the fact that I could be driving a BRAND NEW ranger, under warrenty, for less than I am STILL paying.

How these guys are still in business I don't know, but I am past the point of being nice. Now when I walk in to make my bi-monthly payment of 200$ (400 a month) I let them know everytime what I think of them. In fact on several occasions I have told customers to leave, and given them my story. It has been working nicely. I suggest you all do the same, and we put these rip off artists on the cross. Karma is a MotherF*&ker....

I had the "pleasure" of dealing with the lovely people you speak of in 1996, when they were still Kars-Yes. I was recently divorced, had good credit, but high credit card balances, so I was having a tiny bit of trouble getting financed because of those two factors. I lived close to their lot, their vehicles LOOKED nice, so I decided to check it out.

They were positively charming at first. My down wasn't bad at all, so I picked out a Nissan I liked. Got the extended warranty. Not worth the paper it was written on.

I started having transmission problems within 5000 miles. All of a sudden, there were less than charming. I didn't exist. Okay, fine, I still made my payments and mailed them to the Dallas office on my payment envelopes, at least a week before. Gee, they never got there on time, so late charges started. What to this day has never ceased to amaze me is that their nasty little notes from Dallas made to to ME in two days, but my payments, sent 7 days before due never posted until 7-10 days AFTER the due date. It took, according to them, over two weeks for my mail to get from Studio City to Dallas, but it only took their mail to me two days. Uh, right.

I also did a voluntary repo with them and they reported me as owing more on the car than I paid for it! I filed a report with the California Attorney General and let me tell you, there were innumerable complaints filed against them.

I also put a note of this filing on my credit report, and I have found that most creditors KNOW Ugly Duck/Drivetime/Kars-Yes is a scam business, because I have had no trouble financing a car.

The names change, but the cesspools stay the same.
