I had purchased a Car from Ugly Duckling formerly known as Drive Time back in July of 2002. I have been on time with maintence on my vehicle to keep it in shape. Recently I had sent my care to the shop for a tune up and etc. and later to find out they tell me one of my spark plugs was re-theareded.

Well being that I know nothing about cars I had asked that what the damage would be and was told that it was close to 2,000 dollars to fix my vehicle because my headgasket is gone. I have only had this car for about a year now and still have 2 more years to pay it off. So I called Drive Time to see what can be done and was told just bring it in and they will repair it.

Well Im now Im concerened If I should do that because I wouldn't been in the position I am now with them being dis-honest in the first place. 52 point inspection yeah right. I'am a single mother with two kids with an alright job. But paying daycare, bills, carpayment, and to pay $2000 dollars to get my automobile fixed is impossible. They wont even give me a car to drive while mine is being fixed. What a rip off. O dont let me forget to add this was a '00 model ride.

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

I am an ex-employee with this company and feel bad that you are having problems with your vehicle. I worked in the complaint dept and have rebuilt many muscle cars in the past. The story you are placing here is sad but...
after working with many engines and having a few head gasket problems i can tell you this very certainly. If your head gasket is bad you would have know long before you took it in for a tuneup. The sympotms for a hread gasket are blue smoke comming from your exhaust sytem (from anti-freeze and oil mixing) and overheating because you are boiling away all of your antifreeze. You don't seem to mention having any of these problems and with living in texas the heat shurly would have caused the engine to overheat.

I am not a certified mechanic but what you are saying makes no sence and if you read the terms of the warrenty you would see that customer neglect or abuse voids the warrenty. This would be the case if you had purchased new as well. I have worked with contract with various companies for the past 5 years and i can tell you everything that is in every peice of paper you had signed.

I would recommend that you contact other mechanics and try to find the one that will be able to assist you the most but i personally know the Gm at that store you purchased from and he will help you more (not by having the lowest price but with a payment plan to help break down the cost of repairs for you) then any other mechanic will all you have to do is ask.
If you don't believe me contact customer service and file a complaint they will forward you to customer relations and you will be told the same thing.
