Back in July my wife and I moved into a new home. I made my reservation on line and was told I would get a call within 24 hours. That never happened. I got busy that week and finnaly called UHaul's res center. I told them that there were three UHaul locations between my old house and my new house. UHaul charges 80 cents per mile on the truck.

I was told that they would contact the three locations to see who had a truck available and I would be called back. They never did. I called the next day and was told that a supervisor was trying to locate a truck for us, and he would call back at a certain time. He never did. I called back later and was told that he found the size truck I needed, but at a different location that was at least 5 miles out of the way, which meant 10 miles or so extra on the truck, which meant about $8 extra on the reservation.

I told the supervisor that I was not happy about this and his response was "Look, I have been doing all I can to find a truck for you people." I could not even beleive he had just used the "you people" phrase. He said they can't move trucks from one location to another, and can't garuntee a location. I told him I understood this, but they could at least deduct the extra milage. He told me this could not be done.

We then went to the location, and when my wife started to explain what had happened the lady there got a reeal attitude with us. We didn't have a choice at this point because we needed to get the move done. As I was handing her my driver's lisence she said out of the blue "If this is going to be a problem you can always leave and go to Ryder, Budget, Two men and a Truck (a local company). If you come in here with and attitude I'll give you one right back."

If it wasn't for the fact we were stuck with out move date I would have gone elsewhere in a heart beat. But in the future I will take her advise and use another company.

location of trucks

If you want a certain place to pick up your LOCAL (not one-way, whole diffrent situation) truck, it is best if you call that place directly. That way you skip the middleman, and you know it's going to be there, unless they have had some local trucks broke and awaiting maintenance. If they do not have one available for the time you need it, you will know ahead of time and you can start looking for a diffrent location for pick up.
And no local trucks stay at the location where they are assigned, and do not get transfered to any other location.
As for the attitude, I'm sorry.
