My Father was in an auto accident and I was forced to leave Lodi and move to Monterey to care for him, when it became available I was ready to move into my own apt.
I went on the internet and "reserved" a truck to move me "one way" from Lodi to Monterey- thinking that would be the cheapest route. I was called about 20min later, confirming they received my reservation and a promise to call me 24 hrs before to confirm.

I never received a call back, and I tried to call several times to confirm the time I could pick up the truck, to no avail.. all I got was their automated system.

I then had to drive to the promised location- in Lodi 3hrs from where I was temp staying, to be told that they "did'nt" have my reservation and that they had "NO" trucks available-

I spoke to Liz the desk clerk and she called her Corp office in Fresno and chuckled and grinned about my delema when talking to the other party on the other end.. she hung up and said again,
"I'm sorry there is nothing I can do"

My Son and my injured Father were with me, I was desprete to find alternent transportation, I used my cell phone to call directory assistance I dialed 4 other rental companies, only one was opened, Budget- the man was very polite and he had compasion "unlike" Liz at Uhaul, but he did'nt have any trucks either, Due to the OVERFLOW of business he receives from Uhaul, with stories from people just like me!

Needless to say, I am paying rent on an apt I cant live in, I am paying storage on a unit- I would'nt need..
I am having to find transportation for my son to get to and from school, he is'nt really a part of the district yet...because school started a week ago!
and I still dont have a TRUCK, and I have to go thru this whole process over again Next weekend.

I can only hope that the next person I deal with will have alitle more compassion when dealing with customers and there needs and not leave me stranded!
There should be some sort of legal action I could take to curb them from doing this to other customers- Im sure they dont care since there is Always going to be someone who will need there service they make their money anyway.

Which by the way reminds me.. they would charge me if I didnt give them 24hr notice to Cancel, But, they are not willing to give me money- for not giving me 24hr notice that they couldnt provide the service they promised!
Good luck to anyone who would rent from Uhaul. I know I wont and either will my family or friends after this.
