My wife purchased a children's book from a young door-to-door saleman from Ultimate Power Sales, Inc. He claimed to be a neighborhood kid sent over by {fill in the blank with a neighbor who he also just sold to) and that he was selling to raise money for his baseball team. He was very convincing and had good answers for everything - he was obviously "well coached."

I cancelled within 3 business days by sending the cancellation notice and even send it certified mail with a receipt so they could not claim they never received it. The company sent me a form letter with "Car & Driver" magazine filled in as what I ordered which was incorrect. The form letter said they needed my phone number and copy of cancelled check.

I responded with another letter certified saying I was not sending them anything further and to refund my $35 immediately. I received yet another form letter with Car & Driver (crossed out this time) stating without a cancelled check I had to wait 60 days and then re-submit for a refund. There is no such requirement on the company's cancellation form.

I placed 2 calls to the company and both times I got a recording. I left 2 messages and was never called back. I am pursuing legal action and will spend 20 times more than my order amount to recover my payment - hopefully the court will tack on attorney's fees to penalize these crooks.
