We have also had problems with this moving company. Long story short, they took our stuff in Indiana on 4/29 and have yet to deliver to us in California. We published our story on 5/27 at (((Redacted)))There is story online by Linda Colton in Terrell, TX that a mover of Ultimate Van Lines tried to rape her. Do not leave your loved ones at home, unprotected, to answer the door to these people!

I contacted the FBI of Dallas about our case and encourage others to do the same.

I do not know why they removed my phone number and email address. Everyone needs to know what happened and i was getting calls from people that had major  problems.

My cell # is (((Redacted))) and email is (((Redacted)))

Do not use this company or any new name they opened up on.

I received one call from a lady that when they delivered her stuff they used the bathroom on the drive way in front of the house. VERY PROFESSIONAL MOVING COMPANY!

I dont know why you took effort to doubt their competent.
We schedueled the move which was very easy. indeed they're not a big
company, mostly good guys making a living, in all that matter they were very professional and they took the time to make our move cheap and smooth.

Generally Speaking.....

Douglas, the reason generally for such delays is that the mover is waiting and waiting for other shipments to go in a similar direction so that the company doesn't have to send its only truck (and only source of revenue) with only one shipment in the truck. They will wait as long as the DOT allows, which is about 30 days from when the items are picked up (its actually 21 business days, but when you include weekends and the like - it's about a month). If you call them wondering where your shipment is, they will give you many excuses such as these classics:

1. Our Operations Manager is out - I'll have him call you first thing in the morning...(of course there is no call and sometimes no Ops Manager).

2. Our truck broke down.....again. Your stuff is in it. I don't know when the repairs will be completed.

3. I don't know where the truck is - let me check and call you back. (no call)

If you believe your wife's skills as a lawyer will help you - think again. Many lawyers I know have been scammed by a moving company. The moving contracts are slippery and vague, and threatening them with a lawsuit will only generate laughter on their end. Not only is the moving industry completely unregulated, and poorly managed at the Federal level, they also enjoy legal protections no other industry has. Have your wife research the Carmack Amendment.....

I personally would select a reputable mover from one of the major vanlines; they have the necessary resources to competently move you and your odds of being scammed are much lower. It might be more expensive, but then a full-service move is not an inexpensive venture either. If you read complaints on this site (and other sites), you'll find when people choose the least expensive move, they get what they paid for. The objective is to find the most competent mover, not the cheapest. You are trusting them with your valuable possessions - and I would not leave that to the mover with the cheapest price.

best of luck.....

Hello Heather,

what was the reason for the delay?
and, If you got your belongings why are you still posting a negative report?
have you filed a claim for the glass?
i did some research and contacted the bbb in dallas and florida.
i was contacted by Ultimate van lines for my move from richmond.
they have an office there. not warehouse or something of sorts.
my wife is a lawyer and checked the contract. which seems fair.
have you got any extra payments that didnt apear on the contract?

Douglas.

Finally got our stuff - 35 days after the fact!

we finally got our stuff yesterday, 35 days after it left Indiana! everything seems ok. a few glasses broken, our mattress box springs' plastic corners all shredded...but so far, nothing missing and nothing too terribly damaged.

the guys were friendly and reiterated several times that we didn't have to give them ANY tip. however they were also clear that they thought one would be nice. the 2 guys w/them that did MOST of the moving seemed to have been hired off the street this morning, and we were worried the tip was all they'd get, so we did tip $160.

i thought in all fairness i should post here that we got our stuff. its so nice to not be sleeping on the floor anymore! and my son (2 months old) has his bassinet back. thank goodness.
