I purchased a vehicle from Big Bob's Cars A.K.A. "Uncle Mike's Auto Mall" on August 17th 2010.  My car's wheel baron broke on August 28th 2010.  I have a 90 day warranty on the vehicle.  I asked the owner how a car can have problems after the 1st week of purchasing it?  His response was "it's a used car. What do you expect?"  At this point I am not feeling to good about the company.  The very next week on Sept 6th 2010, my car overheated.  I contacted the company and took the car in for repairs.  They kept the car for 2 days.  When I picked up the car it ran hot before I even reached the interstate.  They said that they replaced a radiator hose and a water pump.  The "mechanics" forgot to bleed the water pump.  At this point I have absolutely zero faith in this car dealer or it's mechanic staff.  The very next day, the car started overheating AGAIN......   I am no mechanic, however I saw water and radiator fluid leaking from the very same radiator hose that was suppose to have been replaced.  Wow....   I took my car back to them yet again.....   I got my car back the same day. It overheated before I reached the interstate once again..... I took the car right back to the company.  The mechanic's forgot to bleed the radiator hose. GO FIGURE...
The same evening my car was not overheating.  All seemed fine until my car just shut off on me in the middle of the interstate with zero warning.  I called the company and advised the owner that my car needed towing.  The vehicle was completely disabled.  After arguing with the owner for about 20 minutes, he finally gave in and gave me the # to his towing company.  They confirmed the car was received.  I went to the company on that following day and was informed that the engine in my vehicle was blown.  WOW....   At this point I am completely flabbergasted.  How can a car engine blow after approximately 1 month and 8 days of owning the vehicle?  They told me that they would price an engine and I would be responsible to pay for 1/2.  Since I had a 90 day 50/50 warranty.....  Well, I got a phone call from my insurance agent and was advised that the car dealer called to place an insurance claim on my car saying that the vehicle was in an accident and my vehicle was damaged and engine blown as a result....
I called the car dealer and was advised by the owner that it is their vehicle and that they can basically do what they want.  I am a hard working person who is not by any means wealthy.  I pay my bills on time and I abide by the law.  I personally feel that this company takes advantage of people such as myself.  I feel that it is a travesty that they are in business.  All I wanted was a reliable vehicle to get me back and forth from work.  That's it.  Not much to ask for, I guess you have to really do your research on "buy here, pay here" car dealers.  However, that doesn't give them the right to sell lemons, "knowingly" and continue to do so to other consumers.......

BUYER BEWARE WHEN PURCHASING A VEHICLE FROM "BIG BOB'S CARS" A.K.A. "UNCLE MIKE'S AUTO MALL".........

#4REBUTTAL Owner of company

I believe I've identified the unkown writer of this complaint based on the date she bought the car.  The real facts are as follows:

Instead of stopping the car when the overheat light went on, it appeared the owner continued to drive it until the engine blew.  At our expense, we hired a tow company to bring the car to our lot.  When the car got to the lot, we found the entire right front of the car had been damaged in an accident, but the customer failed to report it to the police or her insurance company.  Based on the damage to the car from the accident, along with the blown engine, the car was not worth fixing and had to be junked.  Although the customer owed over $6,000.00 on the car, as a matter of good faith, we did not pursue her for the money, did not seek any judgment against her, and did not report the loss and her failure to pay to any credit bureau.

Frankly, I don't know what more we could have done after already incurring a substantial loss on the entire transaction.

"I pay my bills on time and abide by the law"

I can't dipute the fact that you abide by the law I'm sure you do, but if you pay your bills on time why in the world are you buying a car from a buy here pay here dealership??? Makes me wander about about the whole post.

"I guess you have to really do your research on "buy here, pay here" car dealers."

You have to do your research no matter where you buy a used car.   Every car dealer has lemons and they are always sold to those who are not willing to protect their own interests.   Before buying any used car there is no substitute for having it checked out by a trusted mechanic.   They can easily spot obvious problems like those you experienced.

Good luck with the car dealer.  If they have any integrity, they'll let you out of the deal.  If not, they'll be claiming that you turned the car in for repossesion and set a collection agency on you for the balance of the loan.   The contract you signed probably has no provision for you returning the car if it breaks down.
