Most people know that if some one is arrested for DUI or for selling drugs and property is confiscated it is to be auctioned off and the money used to help the Department or the county to get things they need. I am all in favor of spending that money to get new bullet proof vest or police cars.

In Unicoi County they are trying to find a way to tax its citizens more to help build a new jail that the state ordered them to build. That's on top of all the new toys the department has bought and the two new schools we are still paying for. I would not mind the tax if I did not see police officers driving around in cars (personal not work) that I saw in the impound lot but not at the auction, if I didn't see two houses that were taken from drug dealers being sold to officers in the reality transfer section of our local paper for $1.00.

I mean really they bought a house for $1.00. That could have been auctioned for thousands of dollars to help pay for the new jail. Instead these houses, one of which is on zillow.com with a listed value of $136,000.00 were sold for $1.00. That is ridiculous and unjust to every one who lives in Unicoi County. Some one really needs to step up and do something about the crooked police force in Unicoi County and its crooked government and court system.
