I placed an order with Uniform Discount on February 2, 2009 for a stethoscope for $185.36. After several days, I grew suspicious of this company when I had not received a message stating that my package had shipped. I e-mailed them asking whether my order had shipped, and they replied that the stethoscope I purchased was on back order. They did not include this information in the original product description nor in their sales invoice.

I investigated this company and discovered that they were listed by the Better Business Bureau in Ohio. I also read several negative customer complaints online. I did not feel comfortable doing business with them, having had a similar negative experience with an online vendor who took orders on back ordered products. So I sent them an e-mail to cancel the order. They had no problem with the cancellation, and sent me a receipt for a FULL REFUND on February 5, 2009 at 10:58 AM (Customer Service, Gina). After several days, a credit had not been posted onto my credit card. I called them up and they said that they shipped the order. Later I found the package shipped the day after I canceled the order, February 6, at 4:43 PM.

Meanwhile, I had already bought the same stethoscope from a more reputable dealer (Lights and Sirens), thinking that Uniform Discount was honest. When I called the company they said I should refuse the package and they wouldn't charge a shipping fee (Customer Service, Gina), and regardless of the fact that they had promised a "full refund" they would charge a restocking fee of 30%. They did not honor their word with respect to the full refund, and they did not honor their word with respect to the shipping fee. They gave me a refund of $122.42 more than a month after our conversation, which included a shipping fee and 30% restock charge. I received no product from them, and I am out $62.94 because of their behavior. They have not responded to my calls or e-mails, even when I mentioned I would contact the Better Business Bureau.

Do yourself a favor and pay an extra dollar or two with a more reputable dealer. Look how much money I lost dealing with UniformDiscount. I am an honest medical student and this is a truthful account of my experience with UniformDiscount.

This Dishonest  customer placed an order on February 2, 2009 to www.UniformDiscount.com.

This item was shipped complete to customer on February 5, 2009. This was shipped in a timely fashion. an automated email was sent to the customer upon shipping with the tracking. The customer decided to refuse the package and not follow the Terms and Conditions that she approved upon check out.

Now this Customer Miss Bruce, of Madison, Wisconsin does not like to follow the policy that she agreed and now wants to try to ruin the reputation of an honest company that shipped her the stethoscope timely that she purchased.

Next time tell the truth and not lie about the facts.  Beware of this customer.  DO NOT SELL HER.

Read the post carefully. If you'd like to read about similar cases of fraud and bad customer service by UniformDiscount.com, you don't have to look far. Just search this website for the bad experiences of other UniformDiscount.com customers. Call me old-fashioned, but I believe honesty is the best policy.

Perhaps you should wait more than "a couple of days" when doing business via mail order. If you prefer to have instantaneous service and delivery of goods, then doing business IN PERSON is the way to go. No mail order company is going to drop everything when your order comes in so they can expedite it to your liking. At any rate, you ordered a stethoscope, you got the stethoscope, and there is no rip off. Just because you could not demonstrate some patience, and you CHOSE to order a second stethoscope elsewhere before your refund was issued by the first company, does NOT constitute a rip off. It is merely a lesson learned.
