UNIMweb, Irvine Webworks, Axin Financial Services, Inc.

On 12/14/03 My mother and I attended a free conference by UNIMweb. In this conference they discussed the trends of business on the internet how huge of an industry this was and that it level the playing field.

The speaker then announced that UNIMweb could provide this fully opperational web site with this revolutionary software and that this software useally sold for I believe it was $295.99 or something similar i remenber going on there site and it was posted as that also. But that due to the fact that we were such a big group he would let us have these great software which would give us all we need to be up and runing on the internet in no time for $20.00 and that if we paid $129.95 to come back to a night conference on the 12/22/03 that we would get all the tools and the web site build and we would receive five of these great CD and this fully opperational art store (valued at a few $100's).

The guest speaker stated that industry standard for hosting a web site was between $60-$100 a month and that with UNIMweb we'd only pay $29.95 per month. He stated that we had to get the deal now for it would expire if not purchased right then. So it sounded great at the time and jumped on it. We went to the conference which didn't talk about how to built your site just to keep it simple.

I understood why they said simple when i got home (I'll explain). They told us that if we were serious about getting sales that we had to get a merchant account and we would see our sales go up 95%. So that made sense well the merchant account was 1 and last month $39.95x2=$79.90 + $20.00 Document Prep fee along with a 39 month lease. So we signed up for the Merchant account ($99.90 + lease).

They also sold us on a 1-800 #, it didn't make sense to have an internet presence without an 1-800 # so they sold us on a company name PBNext now so far I haven't had the time to check them out thoroughly so i can't say, but there system seems to work.

Now here's why I said that "I'll explain when I mentioned that I found out why they said keep it simple. When I got to look at the site I check it out for a while trying to figure out what could I possibly do with this I concluded that all the templates were really useless for anyone who's trying to start a serious internet presence and not just a personal site. So I contacted the company and ask them if it was possible to import templates and paste them they said yes.

So I went on my search for a template to suit my theme. This guy then tries to contact me says he needs to speak to us about our web site and how to get it up and going and that he would like to make and appointment. I think alright here's the assistance they spoke about! We make an appointment and my mother, my friend and I make an appointment to have a telephone conference call with this guy. And so he asks us how we are doing and we said well we need some help and he started right of the bat sounding like a sales man and not a technician or someone which was going to help us with our problems.

This guy starts to ask us about our expenses and how much funds we have available and when I finally ask him what excatly is he offering he replies councelling to get our web site built and running and that he had several packages starting from $2000.00 to $7000.00. So we found out that this guy was again trying to sell us more and he stated of course there is no guarantee just like any business, We decline the offer and he them became real irritated with is tone of voice.

We then contacted UNIMweb and ask if Frontpage was compatible with there servers Oh yes no problem" just cut and paste the HTML code and you'll be all set. i work on this web site and 2 week past and Irvine webworks (UNIMweb) charged the 1st month Hosting $29.95. Got the site completed and went to post it pictures missing site over laping. Finally got some of the pictures in and the editor is tottaly useless can move pictures can build text box to insert nothing.

So I call UNIMweb and speak to this guy and he says did you upload all your pictures in the image media, I reply "Yes". So he has me press the HTML button to go and get the address of the pictures and so I press it and nothing happens I press it again and nothing happens and so I try the bottom one and it works. I tell the guy hey the button at the bottom just brought it up, but the one on top wasn't doing anything and he replies,"Oh no the one on the bottom is the one you've got to press the one on top that's for...Uh...that's for something else.

I don't know anything about HTML, but I figure HTML should mean HTML. The Guy then tells me that I've got to go into the code and change each picture addresses to reflect back to there servers. Now as I said I don't know anything about HTML. I said you'll told me cut and paste so I had started making some research on other web hosting and found out about software extensions and prices and so forth. So I ask him to you have Frontpage extensions "No" he replies do you have any form of extensions for any web building software,"Not that I'm aware of".

I went in and try to alter the HTML coding like what he told me and nothing, but problems started bars started moving and Oh, yeah! My pictures still didn't appear. I played around for a while until i got frustrated and went back to look for another Hosting companies I found out that most hostin range from free to under $20. They all provide 24/7 support(UNIMweb M-Thurs 7am-7pm, Fri 7am-5pm, Sat 9.30am to 4pm and close on Saturday and of course you didn't know that they would be close in the times that people needed them the most when signing) and staff they offer software extensions and much much more for a fraction of the cost.

I'll take one for example which I found Globathost.com $7.50/month gives you all the extension, 2000mb disk space (UNIMweb 100mb) 2000e-mails (Let's not even talk about them) and 60gb of transfer. Wow..all for $7.50 you can imaging how stupid I felt. Anyway I've spent $319.70 and a month later I have a web site in my computer that I can seem to get on to my host any time soon, an editor that is totally useless and monthly fees that are approx 4 times what I have seen to be the norm (but UNIM can't even fall in the norm for what they are giving you is absolute.....).

I feel like a total moron, but taking it as a learning experience for it forced me to go and find out more about web Hosting and merchant account and not to fall for these con artist ploys again. I recommend for anyone going to build a web site do your research first and no impulse bying listen to your conscience and especially stay away from UNIMweb, Irvine web works or Axin Finacial Services. As you can see I ain't the only one that this unethical company/ies have decieve and it is very easy, believe me.

Promised services and didn't deliver

#3Consumer Suggestion

Mon, May 03, 2004

unim promised to help me (as well as many others)to set us up with an online website to start and boost our business's. They charged me $489.60 so far to provide me with turnkey services, a web sight and web page, a link to ebay, art store to market on my web sight, and a link with pbnext, server and hosting fees.

I prepaid all of the stated fees except for the merchant account fees. Unim took my application to submit it to their financial department (AXIN Financial) for financing.

Axin declined my application for financing of quoted price of 1,000.00. If financed through AXIN, I would be required to pay $90.00 a month for 48 months - which works out to be $4,320.00 for a merchant account through them. They will not accept any other merchant service, but their's. I called several merchant services providers and found that I could get the exact same services that Unim/AXIN offered me for $150.00 to $350.00 down and $20.00 to $35.00 in fees per month.

I attended the seminar that unim presented on February 9th 2004 and that's how I became connected with these people. The speakers there kept repeating the same things,

1. Anybody can do this.

2. you don't need perfect credit.

3. you can do this with little and/or no money out of your pocket. I do not have bad credit, but it isn't perfect either. It's good enough that I bought a new $10,000.00 car with it and wasn't even employed at the time.

After AXIN financial turned down my request to finance my merchant account, my partners/friends agreed to co-sign the loan for the merchant account.

AXIN also turned them down even though they have perfect credit and had just been qualified to purchase their 2nd home for $289,000.00 with no money down.

I've discovered that the unim web co. has a monopoly in place making it impossibe for anyone to move forward in their buisiness ventures. If you can't do even one thing connected to the co. then you can't do any of it.

I was signed up for unim web services and have a web page (www.karenbaumannunimstores.com) but have been prevented from utilizing these services because I can't hand them a thousand dollars to start my merchant account services. Unim has been taking out $29.95 a month for server fees, and $29.95 a month for pbnext fees. Fees they have been taking out of my checking account every month starting in February and continuing through May 2004, for services I can't even use or haven't used.

They misrepresented how this works to everyone at the seminar. About 350 to 400 people attended that seminar and over half bought into the unim pkg. at $489.60 and a thousand or more obtaining their merchant accounts through them, plus the fees they are being charged every month. I'm still waiting for the "you don't need perfect credit, anyone can do this, and little or no money" they promised to surface.

So far, all I have been doing is paying (being nickel and dimed for further services) money out for services I'm not getting (and that it doesn't look like I will get). When you call unim, no one answers and a recorded message tells you to leave your name and number and one of their tech supports will call you back. I have called and left my name and number and have yet to have anyone call me back. I want the name of the president/head guy of the corporation and a physical address in which to write them with my complaints, but can not get that.

The only address they'll give is the web site address www.unimweb.com which only promotes buying into their company. I think that there should be a law against what they are doing and if there is, it should be enforced, or they should at least be investigated. Thank you for your attention in this matter. Sincerely;

Jason
