My Aunt, an eighty year old widow, has been insured with this company for over fifty years. She now is homeless, and unable to finance the replacement of her home because the agent said she was behind on her payments. She lost all records of her transactions. So, it's her word against her agent. She has been denied any payment.
This is one of the major rural rip-offs in America. I feel this takes advantage of the elderly. She is now disoriented, and extremely confused, because of the loss. Then for this guy, added to the injury. It is too much for her to accept. I am angry. I am at a lost as to how to help her. It just breaks your heart to see the elderly scammed like this.

If your Aunt paid by check, she needs to contact her bank and get copies of all of her payments. Then it will be in black and white versus the agent's word. Has she talked directly to the company or only the agent? If she was sending money to the agent and not the company, it's possible the agent was not submitting to the insurance company. Did your Aunt every get a notice in the mail saying she was not insured? If all else fails, contact the Insurance Commissioner in your state and request that they investigate. Good luck.
