Union Station The Restaurant (Joe: Owner) ripoff anger management problem fraud sneaky Worcester Massachusetts
This place is by far the worst place to hold a wedding event!! The hall is beautiful don't get me wrong but the reason being is because of the services that we've received from Joe and his staff.
First of all, every time we met with him to touch base about things before the wedding he'd always had us wait for him. The first time was three and a half hours, the second time was two hours and the third time was two and a half hours!
Then for the wedding day we had bought 300 beer tickets to pass out to our guests and if those quantities run out then it would be cash bar after that. We asked him for the beer tickets and he gave it to us about 100 at a time. The last time he gave us the beer tickets there were 23 that were short that he had sworn he gave to us. We let the situation slide. Then our guests went to the bar to trade in their beer tickets his staff informed us that there were no more beers! We still had 105 beer tickets left! Joe had sold our beers that we bought to our guests!! He double charged us for almost half of the beers! If he was to sell the beers, then he should have sold them when the 300 beers run out, not during!! I was so furious with him. When I confronted him with the situation and asked him how come we couldn't trade in the 130 tickets for the beers since we've already paid for them, he got mad and told me that he's shutting down the bar and there would be no more liquor for anyone! And on top of that I didn't get my money back for those beer tickets either! They were $4.00 each.
He had also charged my friend for ice and water on their wedding! Who does that?!! Shouldn't ice and water be provided free of charge if you've paid him $6,400 for the hall rental!!
The other thing that happened was we had outside catering. He promised us that his staff will do an excellent job at serving the food for us since they work there and they would know their way around the restaurant and would deliver the food in a timely matter and that we should not have our caterer have their staff do the waitressing. Well that was another big mistake!
His staffs were so slow to deliver each course which made the food cold by the time it got to the tables and on top of that some of the tables didn't receive all the food! We had a seven course meal and some tables had only five courses!! The other tables had eight or nine dishes at their tables. His staff certainly did not remember which table they had served and didn't served and were all confused themselves! My parents' table did not get any food at all because they'd already gave all the food out! I would not recommend this place to anyone.
My wedding was a fiasco because of the bad experience I've received at Union Station.
Other people that had a wedding there had warned us about that place but it was too late for us because we had put a $1,100 nonrefundable deposit down already. They told us just to make sure we get everything in writing BUT even with everything in writing he still managed to screw us up somehow.
I had talked to a few of my friends after the wedding and they told me that they were charged $12.00 for a mix drink and a beer. Another person was charged $24.00 for two mix drinks and a beer. Joe took advantage of knowing that the wedding will be a busy day for my husband and I so we probably won't notice if he overcharges my guests.
At the end of the night when he started to kick everyone out, a random kid got off the train and had came over and ask one of my friend if he had change for a $5.00 bill. My friend said no and to go and ask the bar. The kid went to the bar and Joe just punched the kid and kicked him out. Shouldn't he get arrested for hitting a minor?! I felt disappointed that no one wrote down that kid's name and number so we can press charges for him. I had left before all this had happened.
