I recieved a letter in the mail today (8/22/07) it stated I was pre-approved for a line of credit of 10 thousand dollars @ a 5% APR, all I had to do was send a $37 dollar fee to recieve this credit card. However I never sent them the money due to their lack of information.
1. they do not require you to send money with a pre-approval
2. they typed the letter without asking for specific information on your income level.
3. No credit card company will automatically give you a credit limit of 10 thousand dollars right from the jump. they also start low.
4. If you read your letters completely you will see how they wrote pre-approved and then they have an approval # on the upper right hand side. How can you be both.
5. They also did not ask for a social security number, that is really important especially if they are willing to give you such a big amount to spend. any one would spend that money and not have to responsible for payment because they could not report it to the credit bureau's or even take you to court without substantial proof that it was you who made purchases.

Those are the reasons I did not send them money and decided to look up the ripoff section/fraud and post a comment.

The Attorney General should be made aware of these schemes that are going on and something needs to be legally done about this. So many people are already getting ripped off and had lost money that they probably did not have to give, but figured hey why not it is worth it especially such a big amount of money. PLEASE READ YOUR LETTERS CAREFULLY AND IF THEY DO NOT HAVE A PHONE NUMBER TO REACH THEM TOSS IT IN THE GARBAGE.

That's why it is misleading to some folks who may not fully comprehend the offer. No mention of these trademarked companies need be mentioned in their offer of credit, therefore it is very deceptive in nature.

Thank you

Rebuttal for those receiving letter from Union Workers Credit Svc. as if a scam

I too received a letter from the Union Credit services, but I know that if it was a credit card then I wouldn't need to send money. Normally the money for registration for legitimate credit is usually debited on one's first purchase. However the writing on the letter specifically states that it is not associated with VISA or MasterCard and the offer is for a credit only thru Union Services. Many times readers see what they want to see and do not see what is actually there. The letter has the disclaimer and further illustrates what type of card you will be sending. This rebuttal is to state that the letter is NOT misrepresenting itself. Here is the letter's disclaimer , if you will: ...Visa and Mastercard are registered trademarks ...respectively, and are unaffiliated with this offer or UNCS credit amount referenced...shall not be construed to function as any type of multi-purpose credit card, and is exclusively applicable for credit purchases"...

A scam is a scam, but this is not and could ruin the credit service from gaining appropriate members. I've been scammed before and thats why I scrutinized the entire letter. Your readers must read small print too which further identified the credit services position.
