My car was in an accident and I had looked for what I thought would be a good body shop. I located Unique Custom Paint in Orlando, and a couple of others. My biggest thing was that my car be painted correctly, matching, and with PPG paint. When I called, I spoke with the owner of the company named Martin. (secretary is Jackie) And he told me he was one of the best in Orlando, offered a life time warranty, and used PPG paint. He also told me that a news channel (I believe WESH 2) was interviewing him because he had NEVER had a BBB complaint in Orlando since he had been in business. Martin then asked me to come down and speak to him and get an estimate. When I went to the shop I was greeted by the gentleman and given an estimate which was comparable to others, but slightly less. He gave me the song and dance (which I thought at the time) was genuine about how he would treat my car as his own. I indicated at the time that I would like him to drive my car in and out of his shop as the front end was very low, and it needed boards to get into his driveway. I didnt want the front lower part of the bumper scratched up.

Couple days later I brought my car to his shop to have the wheels removed as was going to have them powder coated. I ended up not being able to get it done, and while I was inside talking to Jackie about my car, the tech (painter) decides to drive my car outside - NO boards.. He got my car stuck on the drive way with the front bumper wedged into the cement of the road - with it partially bent up wards, and my valence CRACKED! I immediately had her call Martin, who pretty much called me a liar. Stated his painter would never do that. Martin told me that he had a mini that he drove in there every time and never scratched! I had to back the car up my self in front of Jackie and the technician! He finally said he would take care of that damage as well but assured me I was wrong. (which I was not.)

My car finally got into paint, and they finished it rather quickly. When I arrived to pick up my car there was red over spray all of my wheels. As well, my car had not been wet sanded! I asked him why my car had not been wet sanded, and he told me he did not wet sand cars right away but 30 days from the painted time. I found this a bit weird as all my cars that I have had painted have been wet sanded and buffed while in the shop. I tried to schedule times with Martin to get my car buffed and each time something came up where they didnt have time. My car has STILL not been buffed.

Now to the best part. 2 months after my car went in.

My wheels have clear coat flaking off where he used paint thinner.

My hood has MAJOR trash in the paint, and all estimates from 7 YES 7 total shops say that there is so much trash and bubbling in the paint that it needs to be repainted.

My right front fender which was replaced and painted has bubbling on it and the paint is flaking because they didnt put enough flex agent and it was not prepped correctly, same with the lower valence.

The left fender where they did just the blending of the panel even has paint peeling back in a strip. What is funny is, he told me that the whole right fender was my fault from rock chips. It has about 57 area's on that fender. On the left side that was just blended and that has never been painted (only blended) has about 5. This should tell you how bad they prepped my whole car. The job looks horrible. And paint shops all over orlando have laughed at the work done.

All I want is the car fixed by a reputable shop and this guy pay for it. My car now looks like its been painted by a 5 year old child. There are divets in the paint, flaking, everything you can imagine.

I have made 6 phone calls to get my actual receipt from them. At first MARTIN tells me that it was moved off site after the tax season. Then I was told by Jackie that their computer just crashed and they lost my receipt. They are frauds, liars, etc!

Next, the file that Channel 9 (WFTV) has opened up. Date August 15th, FILE NUMBER: 08-JJ-12

Dear Customer Relations Manager:

We have been contacted by a consumer who has a concern about a product/service purchased from your business. The consumer is hoping you will be able to review the issue, so it could be resolved.

Has my name/contact information/phone number.

Complaint according to the consumer: Customer claims paint job created serious flaking and over spray issues.

With that they gave me a letter to follow up with if the individual Martin did not get in touch with me. I assume he had received the letter by now, as it was sent on the 21st (as post marked) on the envelope.

Martin has not returned my calls for my receipt, has not returned any calls in regards to my car - I have since received two more estimates that said the work that was done was horrible. Same things others have stated. I asked the one body shop last Friday if they could tell where my car was painted recently and what was wrong.

The individual came out and immediately asked me about the right front of my car and the hood. After looking at it, he stated he could see where one may think it's rock shops and thats a great excuse. However you can tell by looking at the left fender (drivers side) that it has only a couple of rock chips - and that was the original paint on the car. When he popped the hood he pointed out where they had painted part of the car orange (about 1 inch by 1 inch) - MY CAR IS RED by the way.

He asked who did it, and I with held honestly. He told me that there is no way any of his guys would let the car roll off with orange paint on a brand new piece of body work. Second he stated that the lower valence that was heavily faked off should have never worn that way if the work was done properly. He then stated (funny he should do so) that I should contact Ripoffreport.com and place a ad up.

I just want this guy to pay to have my work done correctly by an individual body shop that will do this work professionaly. I don't trust my car in their hands again. Not after all of this. As well, a rental car for the period that it's in the shop. Since the insurance company already paid for it.

I just called the body shop (Unique Custom Paint & Body - Downtown Orlando) and asked Jackie about my receipt. She stated she spoke with Martin L. Sobers (Owner) of the shop and that he said "nothing about it." I asked what she meant about that - and she stated he said "nothing."

She then said I could talk to him when he was there, as I have before and I know I would get the run around from him. I indicated to her that I needed this receipt today.

I figure at this time, I need to contact the 3 news organizations here in Orlando, the BBB, and the Federal Trade Commission. This is getting to be redundant. I cant believe that a company is run this way!
