United Air Temp misleading contracts, dropped service if people find better deals Springfield Virginia

There was a report earlier that United Air Temp drops from maintenance contracts customers who buy cheaper a/c units from elsewhere. As someone mentioned, a/c maintenance contracts for residential units are not necessary, most people can do the maintenance themselves.

But I heard from somewhere that they also talk people into buy plumbing maintenance contracts. And apparently they may switch these, so people who think their a/c units will be maintanained, find out that they only have a plumbing contract! And anyway there are much cheaper and better performing services in the area (see Washington checkbook). It's pointless to use them.

The silly thing is that they have testimonials up front on their web site. Try to enter the real complaints there!

United Air Temp refunds all contracts cancelled on a pro-rated basis

"A" in Arlington is mistaken in stating the we do not refund the service contract balance if cancelled (for any reason). We do. That statement is untrue, and unsupported. We refund based upon the pro-rated period the contract was used. No, we don't refund the whole amount. You are charged for the period of time you were covered, and are refunded the remainder of the contract. This is standard business practice.

We do reserve the right to cancel the contracts of customers that decide to use another company for system replacement. What you neglect to tell people is that once you sign up for a contract, the price never goes up unless coverage lapses or is terminated due to equipment replacement (by us or another contractor). Furthermore when WE install equipment there is a minimum 5 year 100% parts/labor/emergency service warranty and a discounted rate for the maintenance included. If the "less expensive" company you buy from won't honor their work with a warranty like that, why would we want the responsibility? At the termination of the manditory 1 year contractors warranty on the system that they installed (assuming the company you use is licensed, we are), you can sign up for a maintenance contract with us at the then prevailing price.

Of course we want our customers to choose us for replacement at the end of their equipment's life. That is why we offer the inflation proof price on the contracts. As a maintenance & service plan holder if you decide to use another company for your replacement needs, that is your choice, but don't expect us to extend a loyalty bonus to you by continuing to cover the equipment they installed & profited from at our sweet deal price. You need to accept whatever level of service the other company offers along with their "good deal" price (sounds like not as good as us or you wouldn't be upset about having your contract terminated).

You have lodged 2 online complaints with this web site 1 month apart. I invite you to provide documentation to back-up your claims. Your assertion that we take peoples money and don't honor the terms of the contracts or that we "bait & switch" contracts is false. Mr/Ms/Mrs "A" :This web site can allow you to contact me, and I invite you to. I am sure I can help you better understand our policies and contract guidelines. (You did read and retain your contract paperwork, right?)
