United Airlines United Airlines Lack of Concern For Customer San Diego California
My wife booked a round trip ticket to attend her sister-in-laws funeral. It was from Springfield, Missouri to San Diego, California. Going out there were no problems. While my wife was in San Diego storm "Titan" came across Missouri, Arkansas and many other places. Where we live we first received freezing rain followed by about two inches of sleet then over four inches of snow (per the various weather men). It is a 2 1/2 hour drive one way to the Springfield/Branson airport. According to the highway patrol in both states the roads are covered with snow and ice. Both states advised not getting out on the roads for the next two days as the temperatures will be below freezing. My wife contacted United, explained the situation to them and requested assistance in changing her flight from 03 Mar 2014 to 05 Mar 2014 due to the road conditions and the fact that I could not get there because of the icey street in front of our house to pick her up. United agent was not in the least bit concerned or helpful. If the Springfield/Branson airport was open (agent claimed it was) they would not provide any kind of assistance and was completely unconcerned. If my wife wanted to come back on the 5th she would have to purchase a new ticket. This is not possible as my wife and I (retired Navy) are retired and live on a fixed income. The origional ticket and motel room already put a strain on our finances. Talk about poor quality customer service!!!!
