I financed a vehicle through United Auto Credit starting in Feb. 2008, and from the 2nd day of being financed I had nothing but trouble from them. They began with one interest rate and then soon would change it over and over again. My payments were quite high due to the outrageous interest rate they gave me.

After having the vehicle for about 2 months I started working less and was attending college full time. I immediately called United Auto and let them know of the change to see if they would work with me in any way on the payments. I asked to get it refinanced with a lower interest rate, they said "NO" and I also requested to be able to pay half one payday and the other half the next and again they said "NO", that due to my loan they have 'no grace period'. It makes no sense for this company to not have any type of grace period with their loaners. They were always so rude and disrespectful, and even when I would call them and tell them it was gonna be a few days late they would constantly call me until they received it in the mail, even when I would give them the money order number. These people would never give up!

Finally I got tired of dealing with them and I wanted to return the car, basically it took them 3 months to 'allow' me to voluntarily give them the vehicle back, I did not pay on it for those months and didn't even drive it, I gave them a location to come pick it up and they did not.

They advised me to try and find someone to take over payments, so I did that, they told me to place it on 'craigslist' so I did that too, they spoke like this was a good thing (I don't usually use craigslist). I found a buyer, however, the very next day, the buyer decided to let a non-licensed driver drive the car, so I called United Auto Credit because I was not going to pay for towing and impound when they are the ones who advised me of this and had refused to pick the vehicle up 3 months earlier. United Auto went and took it out of impound, paying the fees and then it took them 1 month to get the car auctioned off (Nov. 2008) and they just added all the fees of everything onto my bill.

United Auto Credit claims I still owed them $9,600 when I returned the vehicle, which makes no sense considering I had bought it for $9,600 in Feb and had made payments for 8 months on (so what did my payments account for?) it and now after it has been auctioned off they claim they only got $4,500 and that I am still being held responsible for roughly $8,000!!! That does not make any sense.

This company is no good, I do not care what anyone says, they are only after money, they do not care one bit about their customers. The first branch that had my loan went out of business, as this company is filing bank bankruptcy in Washington state at least...

I don't know if there is anything that can be done, but if there is someone please let me know, as now I have a re-po on my credit and the bill I still owe them. This company truly SUCKS!!!!

I've had united auto credit for three years and it's been hell. The calls 5 and 6 times a day they even call my references to the point everyone on my reference list had there number changed. I'm trying now to get my car payoff so I don't have to deal with these people. If anyone knows of a lawyer who would do a class action lawsuit on United Auto Credit please post a website, I guarantee it would be well over 200 people who would join the suit. Read some of these things that United Auto Credit has done to people everyone story is the same.
Everyone goes thru things in there life that come up unexpectedly, and things happens. But this company doesn't even have a grace period. The day before your payment is due they are calling you your job, your references four and five times a day, this company needs to be Stopped!!! for the way they treat and talk to people

Who Made These Decisions?

#6Consumer Suggestion

Who decided to work less (and make less money) and not be able to make your payments on time? Do you think this contract was a joke? You have BAD CREDIT because you used a sub-prime lender. YOU decide not to work as much and can't make the payments. So, because they want their money...which YOU agreed in writing to repay...they are jerks. Incredible.

You give up the car in voluntary repo. They sell the car at auction and they still come after you for what YOU AGREED to pay.

Apparently, like so many others, you must think they owe you a car.
