The young man came to our door selling magazine subscriptions.  Said if we dont need any he would be happy to recommend which ones would be appropriate for a subscription for Childrens Hospital or the Veterens Shelter.  Said he was the grandson of a woman on Rosewood Drive, which is around the corner, even gave her name which I dont remember.  Said we must know her as she is super friendly and always walks her beagle down our street and thru out neighborhood.  Said he was a student at UMass Amherst and needed to raise money for a trip overseas with his class.  Said it had to do with a broadcasting career.

I was skeptical of course and asked to see the order form.  I went to my office to google the company name and was lucky to find these report on Rip Off Report!  I immediately told my husband to send him away.  He left with no issue but went to a neighbors house around the corner.  I called the police and they sent someone down to check his story out.  On our way back from dinner we spoke to another neighbor who said he saw the guy getting arrested!  Hopefully the police returned the checks and money he collected.

Same thing happened in our neighborhood a few years back just a different story.  I called the police and got my neighbors check back from the guy!  Scammers stink!  Its sad that we have to be so careful when it appears a college kid is raising money for his education!!  It saddens the soul when this happens and makes you more judgemental of people roaming your neighborhood!
