United Express Van Lines ripoff fradulent documents, holding belongings for increased moving cost not agreed on beforehand Sunrise Florida
I called a week ago to get an estimate stating to Estie Z. what I had, and she estimated my 2 bedroom apartment (871sq ft) apt to be holding 571 sq ft worth of stuff, ($2,438).Two days ago they showed up 1hr 15 min late (12:15 p.m.) with a 24 ft maxi truck which can hold 1550cu ft.
Over half of the truck was full with someone else's stuff. I told them my stuff would not fit in the space, could they empty the truck and come back. They told me it would fit telling me there was 700-800 sq ft left. (There were no written marks in thr truck to prove this).
3.5 hours went by and the guy told me the truck was full and I still had 1/2 of my apartment not in it. I had told them I had an appointment at 5:30 before they even started they said that's fine, so now I had to leave. My fiance was still there, he was there the whole time. I called him at 7:45 (7.5 hours gone by) He said thet filled the truck again.
Well upon completion they handed the papers I signed earlier to my fiance. The catch here is they altered the documents above my name so it showed I agreed to the new price of $8,432 when in reality it was not on there! There's also a box on the same document checked that I agreed o this before it was even loaded on the truck.
How could I have known exactly how much cu.ft I had especially if it was that much over my estimate? I called them yesterday and they basically tried everything to get me off th phone. I requested they stop shipment on my stuff.
The manager of distribution couldn't even tell me where my belongings were being stored. He said they were being stored in Washington. Now that would be a miracle for this truck to drive a 4 hour drive there and 4 hours back and empty the truck in 45 minutes total!
They would not send me any written confirmation that they stopped my order. During the estimate stage they said my stuff would be stored in New Mexico, and now it's somewhere 15 minutes from my house!
I called every storage place in Williamsburg, none seen the truck, but are keeping an eye out for them. Also before they left one of the guys came up too my fiance and said don't I get a tip I made sure nothing was broke and everything was packed correctly.
My fiance felt threatened that the guy would either harm my belongings or him if he didn't give him any money. So needless to say he handed him a $20 because that's all he had! The BBB said the company has solved all their complaints in the last 3 years, I found 6 in the last 2 months on Moving.com message board. I did talk with a lawyer today.

STOP! ..before you think about using the Better Business Bureau (BBB)... CLICK HERE to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! It has been reported, when there are thousands of complaints and other investigations underway by authorities, the BBB has no choice but to finally give an UNsatisfactory rating to a BBB member business that is paying the BBB big membership fees every year. When a business is reported that is NOT a BBB member, BBB files WILL more likely show an UNsatisfactory rating, then reportedly shake down that company to become a member of the BBB. One positive thing about the BBB is, either way, if a business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB, you can be sure, the business is bad. But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business? Click here to understand more of what consumers and business alike are saying about the BBB. You decide. ..Remember. The BBB membership is not earned, it's paid for!
