I recieved a letter postmarked 06-19-08 over a 96 cent Canadian stamp, return address AMCI Inc, PO Box 1459, Minneapolis.

Inside was a $3984.30 check from AMCI Minerals Corporation (One Energy Place, Suite 1000, Latrobe, PA 15650) drawn from PNC Bank in Pittsburgh, PA (chk# 23360, routing# 043000096, account# 1017130084).

The included letter from United Financials (a division of United Healthcare Corp, same address as the AMCI Inc return address) claimed the check was to cover the expenses and taxes of a $57,000 prize drawn for the Second Quater of 2008 Sweepstakes draw from computerized ballot system from Reader's Digest, Publishers Clearing House, Online Sweepstakes, Internet Games, etc.... It instructed to contact "your agent" (Jason Hills) by phone (1-514-573-0462) to authorize and activate the check and "your winnings must be claimed not later than July, 04, 2008." The letter further advised to keep the claim number (US/CA/ZDS49-00G) confidentially secured until processed and Funds remitted, as "this is part of our security protocol." The letter was signed David Holland, Claim Specialist, United Financial.

My understanding from others experiences here with this mailing is that these checks are fraudulent. I have not phoned their "agent" nor attempted to deposit or cash the check.
