United Healthcare United Health Group Cancel Health Insurance for a Mother of Four Louisville, Kentucky
Lilly, a mother of four responsibly paid every premium of her health insurance on time without issue for many years; until one day she sent in a payment by check that was lost in the mail unknown to her - meanwhile United Healthcare didn't send any notice or communicate in any way, until a month later when they canceled her insurance for lack of payment.
When Lilly realized what happened she begged to be reinstated, she would pay the full amount, and any penalties, whatever she had to do - she escalated to manager after manager, she spent months trying to work this out to no avail.
This heartless insurance company canceled a mother of four and her children's health coverage because of only ONE late payment that was lost in the mail, they gave no warning and they refused to let her pay. Apparently there's no law against this? I'm not sure, but it certainly seems illegal. The company asked for proof that she sent the check, but of course if its lost in the mail and wasn't cashed there is no record of it at the bank or anywhere else and this is beyond her control. This is yet another exapmle of the big guy taking advantage of the little guy with total disregard for fair or moral business practice. Would you want this to happen to you?
