I spent 6 hours at the United Hyundai Dealership in Las Vegas, NV on Saturday after I received a letter in the mail about test driving and then giving them feedback on a Hyundai, and for your time, you would receive $200.00 in Free Gas. Although, in the letter I noticed an asterick, but it didn't match any of the text on the letter, I still went down to the dealership (I have already owned 4 other Hyundai's) as I would be a perfect candidate to offer an opinion. After all was said and done, I actually had to ask for the gas certificate and found out that it is a sham too, as you have to pay $5.99 and get involved in a program to get your free gas for every dollar you spend at participating stores...so much for the time and expense of me filling out the paperwork and my own gas getting there.

ALSO, if that wasn't bad enough, what was about to transpire that afternoon was a nightmare (although at the time it all looked great on paper) and I ended up negotiating for a car.

After 6 hours with not so much as asking me if I would like a water (I bought one for $.75 and the salesman didn't seem like he knew much about negotiating) the bald headed, rude, obnoxious and overbearing sales manager came to the table with his "gotta make our sales quota," and hounded me for two hours to no end until I finally gave in with his promising "7%" interest, no money down and only $268.00 a month which was in my budget. So, since I thought that this would be a great deal and the car payment affordable, I signed on the dotted line with a clause between the salesmen and myself and husband that this would not be a binidng contract until Monday if the financing didn't go through.

On Monday afternoon I called the dealership to confirm that I would be going with their financing because my bank couldn't offer me that good of a deal. The sales manager told me that I just needed to come into the dealership to finalize the paperwork. At that time, I met with him who told me that they couldn't get me financing at 7%, but rather it would now be 11%. After another long conversation, they said I should go to my credit union to see if I could work out the numbers with them.

After all was said and done, and the price was still too high, I asked the manager if they would work with me on this, the answer was still 11% and no reduction in the cost of the car, that they had already done what they could do.

On Wednesday, I decided to shop around and look for another car. I found one below MSRP with all kinds of options and that included tax, and fees at Planet Hyundai and bought it, thinking that the deal had already gone sour and United wouldn't budge on their price or %.

I needed to drop off the car, and proceeded to do so. After 1.5 hours and a long list of questions, the finance guy told me that I know owned two cars, that he could have gotten me the 7% interest rate. The two remaining "Sales Managers" and Finance manager spoke to me as if I were now the bad guy, called me so much as a liar and supported what the sales manager did in this negotiating scheme without even a blink...how do they sleep at night!! They tried the "double up" on the pitch pressure.

Well, I left the car in the service dept that day and left.

In the meantime I had to put the car on my auto insurance, and am now paying for insurance on the car that is still sitting on their lot. They told me that I am still responsible for it for 15 days until they can find the 7% financing and if anything happened to the car it was not their problem. I still couldn't believe what I was hearing. It is now the following Saturday and I am still paying for the car on the lot.

They called me in on Thursday and told me that had another deal for 9.19%. They assured me that I needed to sign another contract and the deal would give me the same payments. They did the deal with Wells Fargo. I told them I would think about it and left. They knew they could never get me 7% interest rate that they said they would find. In fact, the sales manager is so determined not to lose this deal that he now told me that he would be calling in some favors from the banks (just to spite me I'm sure) for the 7% interest rate so I would now be responsible for two auto loans. What I don't understand is how these dealerships can get away with this crap. They are using Saturdays as leverage to their sales bull and if you take the car, you're screwed in Nevada. No recinding for the comsumer, just the dealership. What kind of bull is that!! I would not have wasted 22 hours of my time if I wasn't a loyal customer to Hyundai and it's too bad that these powerhouse, fast talkers and liars (in the financial end ot it) can tell you what you want to hear. And the funny thing is that they even stated that to me when they tried to get me to take the 9.19% rate and re-sign a new contract!

They should be responsible for my time, it's worth something too!! And what about the insurance I am still paying for on the car 7 days later and still not knowing what is going to happen to that car.

I will keep you posted on the outcome of my situation with United Hyundai and if they keep up these tactics. They sure won't be in business long with lies and after lies. They know what they can and can't do about financing when they pull your credit report. These are new owners (they used to be called Metro Hyundai) and that is no way to keep customers coming back. Las Vegas is a smaller town than anyone thinks and it takes good businesses and people to keep this transient town honest...too bad that this dealership has people like them and their sales managers who are scare tactics specialists!!

I am still not done with this situation and I will keep you posted on the outcome.

Start writing letters

#7Consumer Suggestion

Wed, July 02, 2008

If I read things correctly, this has been going on far beyond a reasonable time frame. I cannot speak for NV, but I know in many states, the terms of a contract are to be met in a reasonable time frame.

If it were me, I would start writing letters to the Better Business Bureau, the State Attorney General, Hyundai, and any other consumer agencies you can think of. Send copies to the dealership as well. Tell each entity that you believe you are entitled to reimbursement of insurance costs associated with a car you did not own but were forced to carry because the dealership would not abide by the terms in the contract (was it written or verbal).

Contact a few consumer attorneys in your area, some may be willing to offer a brief consultation at little or no charge.

Small claims court may be an option as well (if you really want to go after them) for damages associated with the insurance.

It really sounds to me like this dealership knew they could not get you the 7% financing, but told you they would anyhow hoping you would cave and sign at the higher interest rate. If you even sign anything with these people, I would suggest having copies made immediately... or better yet, requesting they have 2 identical copies of the documents so you can sign them both (that way they cannot go back to the office and change anything).

STILL PAYING AUTO INSURANCE ON THE UNITED HYUNDAI CAR

Wed, July 02, 2008

Well, it's now Tuesday, July 1, 2008 and no word on the car or the 7% interest rate they are supposed to get me. After they recinded their contract with me offering me the 9.19%, they should have just closed the deal. This past weekend they could have sold the car I'm sure, and I guess they are still going to keep tagging my credit and trying to do what they can to bring down my credit score by all these inquiries...I haven't looked yet, but I'll bet there are tons!
In the meantime, I went by there on Monday and still saw the car sitting there on the lot where I put it. How stupid of them not just tear up those papers and get on with selling the car. If it hadn't been for all of the lies to start with, then I would have happily had the car and been on my way.
The other dealership told me that they would give me a refund for the money that the GAP insurance cost in the loan, but now AAA is telling me that they can provide GAP but it will cost me $755.00 for the life of the loan. Of course the dealership said that it was too bad for me. Now how fair is that! I think they knew darn well that they couldn't provide the GAP when I did my own financing, and I think that this is surely a case of fraud. They have already been given the check (I took it there personally) and got a recipt. As far as I'm concerned, they put something on a contract that was paid for and now being recinded on. What am I to do.

I think I am getting an Attorney. I just called one, and hope that he will be able to provide me some straight answers to all of this.

Will keep you posted as usual!!

Well, it is now Sunday, June 29th, 11:44pm and I am still wondering if United Hyundai is going to call me on Monday and let me know if they have found me 7% financing and not recinded on the original deal (since they are the ones who have the 15 days to make up their mind...not me!) I signed with them last Saturday, June 21st, 2008. At this writing, I am still paying for insurance with AAA and I am going to go by there tomorrow morning (Monday June 30th) to see if the car is still where I left it on their lot in the service department area.

At this point I am very fustrated...not only did United Hyundai do me wrong, but now the new car that I bought has problems with financing too. It's a long story, but the bottom line is that I paid cash for the new car, (my bank financed me and I gave them a check) and now they are telling me that the original contract is not valid because THEY made a mistake with the GAP insurance in the contract and I cannot have the GAP insurance. I am not believing this!! I have tried so hard to give my daughter a nice present of a new car with not only one dealership, but two. She has made me so proud of earning straight A's for 11 years and received a letter from the President of the US for her acheivements with her grades. This is the least I could do for her to finish her High School years with a new car.

I don't make a lot of money and have to finance a car for her, and yet with all of this crap I am at my wits end with dealerships! Why can't all of them be regulated somehow and we get the best price and no lies! What does it take to make this happen!! I might have gotten ripped off before in a car deal, but this takes the cake!

I hope that if anyone reads my "rip-off" report, they will let me kow if there is anyone in Las Vegas who can give me an honest deal on a car for my daughter! She has now seen and driven two cars that both dealerships have given me the shaft on both of the deals!!! I even so much have wrapped up the car with balloons and a bow from the United Hyundai deal and surprised her in front of her friends at 9:55 at night (after spending the entire day at United Hyundai) only to tell her know on Monday that they lied! How does that make me feel as a mother!! I even told United Hyundai my situation and they didn't give one rats ---!!!

I will keep you posted on the other situation with the GAP insurance with the other dealership, as I really felt they took care of me a lot better and seemed to know what they were doing!

Only time will tell!
