On August 8, 2002 we ordered Kitchen Cabinets from David Canto, owner of United Jobbers. We placed a 50% deposit by check, because he didn't take credit cards. I know this was our error; we never should have paid by check. He was supposed to call us the next week and give us a delivery date. He never called us.

On August 22, I attempted to call him, and got a voice message that said the Mailbox is full. I tried to call him many times on the 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27th and still got no answer, and the mailbox is full message. On August 24, I sent a FAX, asking him to call me. He did not call me. On August 27, we drove to his showroom, and guess what, he had moved out.

I called the manufacturer of the cabinets, and found out that he had ordered our cabinets, but do to certain circumstances no deliveries were being made to United Jobbers. Luckily, I will be able to get my cabinets directly from the manufacturer, at cost, so I won't be out that much money. The manufacturer did mention that there were several other customers that had been swindled by United Jobbers.

The day we ordered our cabinets, he mentioned that he was heading to Las Vegas that weekend to help out in his other store. So, he may be on the move to a new location. I couldn't find a United Jobbers at Qwest.com, but I did find a business license for United Jobbers in Clark County, Nevada. I do not know for sure if this is the same United Jobbers since the ownership is under different names, but the coincidences make it suspicious. They're business license started on July 31, 2002, and they are listed as a Cabinet Shop. Hmm?

Moral of the story, never pay by cash or check, unless you are taking the product with you.
