Complaint Review: United Legal Investigation Services

Oh, where to begin...The first call came through in July of 2009 from a "Ryan Cruz" (Very Heavy Arabic/Indian accent), claiming to be handling my case. He said that I must listen to his statement and reading of the affidavit without interruption. He stated that I was facing federal charges and that the line was federally monitored and that a team of attourneys were listening and waiting to hear the outcome prior to down loading my case to be heard at the court house. I listened to what he had to say and told him that I didn't know what he was talking about and how did he get my personal information (as he was calling my work).  He said that it was from a debt that I owed to TJF Corporation and if I wanted to take care of the matter outside of court I could pay only $1200 versus over $5000 in court. 

He said that if I did not pay that his team of investigators would come to my work to collect me and take me to court.  I told him that I worked in a building with the courts and that I know for a fact that that's not how the system works and that I wasn't going anywhere with anyone. He asked if I had ever been in trouble before and asked for my attourney's number.  I informed him that I never had need for an attourney and didn't have one.  He said that if I faxed him a letter stating that I meant no ill will in not paying back the debt with my name and last four of my social with a credit card number, cv number, expiration date, name, and billing address that the matter would be taken care of. I told him that if I really had an outstanding debt that he could fax me the documentation. He said it didn't work that way. He then became very aggitated. I hung up on him. 

The next set of people that called were "John Lawson", "Jeff McCanty", and "Chris Hammer" (both attourneys - supposedly).  I told them the same things that I did "Ryan" and they said we don't have a Ryan Cruz. I never said his last name I stated and they hung up on me.  One time a woman called. "Barbara Wilson" and the next was "Robert Edwards".  "Mr. Edwards" tried the guilt game this time stating that he was on probation and if he didn't collect, that he would lose his job, so if I didn't do it for myself, I should think of him!! HAHAHA!!! All of these people had the same heavy accent. Don't let these people intimidate or scare you, it is a scam.  I opened a case with the fraud unit of my District Attourneys office and report to them whenever they call. Hopefully they stopped since I told them that, they haven't called. All the numbers and faxes were different. 714-598-4243; 941-961-8518; 818-451-4026;707-693-4086; 626-407-4244; 714-845-9225. I hope this helps anyone else out there that these people tried to scare money out of.
