United Legal Investigation They have called and harrased me at work Kansas City Missouri
This company called my place of employment and left a message with my coworker to have me call them asap. When i got to work i returned the call to a Mr. Richard Johnson.
When he answered the phone he was very rude and told me that if i did not pay this debt there would be three charges against me and what would my kids do when they came to arrest me.
i continued to ask him questions about the debt and he continued to read off my social security number! He never answered any of the questions that i had to ask him! He continued to keep on the phone when i told him that i was at work...everytime i told him i had to go he would start with the threats again on me bein arrested.
They should not beable to do this!

When they start off immediately with threats of arrest they are scammers just trying to scare you into paying a debt you probably do not owe.

No collection agency can threaten you in any way to collect a debt ITS ILLEGAL and the ones that immediate start off with threats are doing so just to get your money or your bank account information.

They've already consented to being recorded since they left the message on your VM already.
Second, contact a local attorney. You've basically got them right where they should be (over a barrel), and the FDCPA allows for punitive damages plus your attorney's fees to be paid, so it shouldn't be that hard to find an attorney to sue them. The problem will be proving that the call came from the actual company, along with finding a legal address to serve them at.
Dumb CA. I've only rarely heard of them leaving messages like that. It was really dumb of them.
