United Plumbing Robert the owner FORGED A HIGHER AMOUNT ON CHECK North Hollywood California
I had a problem with a cracked toilet in my house so I contacted my Home Warranty company Fidelity National. I set up a claim and they sent out United Plumbing to service it. A claim is a $65 fee which you write the check to the company. No matter what the repair costs your cost is $65.
United Plumbing came, looked at the toilet, said it was cracked and the insurance company would cover a new toilet. I didn't want the type of toilet they would cover so I said thank you and goodbye. He gave me an invoice for $65 for the fee and I wrote them a check for $65.
The next day when reviewing my bank account I came across a cashed check for $165. I looked at the check online I saw how somebody had forged a 1 in front of the 65 in the numberical category and wrote a very small one in the written line of the check. I immediately called United to report this to them and the owner Robert. He had me send him a copy of the check, the work order from United Plumbing showing the $65 amount and the check number. I also sent him a picture of the carbon of my check where you could see I wrote sixty five dollars. He claimed his tech that he sent out still had not turned in the paperwork and my bank (Bank of America) must have done the fraud. I told him this was preposterous.
Robert promised me he would speak to his technician when he came back in that evening and would call me that night. I did not hear back from Robert. I gave him a couple of days, sending emails which he ignored. I have since turned it over to the Home Warranty Company.
This is only a $100 I have been ripped off for which I am now contacting the bank etc on. The point I am making is if the company or technician did this to me they are probably doing it to many customers. I would recommend to everybody to stay clear of United Plumbing. If your home warranty company refers them to you decline or you too may be having your check filled out for a higher amount by somebody involved with the company.

I am happy to report that the owner of United Plumbing fired the employee who had altered the check I had given him. Apparently the technician was collecting service fees and depositing them into his own account. I was told that 19 service fees had been collected. The technician had changed the numbers on my check I don't know how many others he had changed the number on. I reported the forgery to my bank which immediately credited me back the money. Where it stands now is the owner of the company (robert) has filed a report with the police.
