In August, 2005, I ordered 5 magazines over the phone. United Publishers wanted to take the money out of my bank account each month. I requested that I be sent a bill instead. Now I find out that I have been paying the bill they send AND they're taking $51.83 out of my account. I began getting cards from magazines months later thanking me for requesting trial subscriptions, and after 2 or 3 issues the regular subscription price would automatically be taken from my credit card. I didn't worry because I knew these mags didn't have that number.

Until March, when the first magazine took money from my Visa. United Publishers of America is signing people up for FREE trial subscriptions, and taking money from them for full subscriptions and of course keeping the money, then giving our card numbers to unsuspecting (?) magazine companies. Naturally, I was told that they pay the mags upfront. What liars! I hope they get theirs, I know I'm going to raise a stink!
