United Relocation Charged too much than their estimated quote ATlanta Georgia
I went to the website www.move.com for a moving quote from Fremont,CA to ALpharetta, GA. I quoted for one bed room apartment, without sofa set.
Like one King size bed , Dining table, 27''inch TV and like 20 big boxes. I honestly don't know h*e much cubic feet this will occupy.
I got a quote from Nationwide for $1700 un restricted space and weight ASAP for $1350 for 2700 lbs with unrestricted space MTF Relocation for $1175 for 2000 lbs. United Relocation for $1075 for $4.2 upto 229 cu ft.
Then Mike from United Relocation was coordinating with me. I said clearly to him, I am moving for the first time and I am not clear on this. I already said that I am not clear how much size my belongings will occupy and this is the first time I am moving. He roughly estimated and send me two emails, one containg $5 for200 and then later 4.2 upto 229 cu ft. So I was thinking the second one will work out and paid $175 dollars for booking.
Then movers were supposedon 1/2/2008 to come at 2PM , I have been waiting for them and they finally arrived at 4PM and took some money by cash. ANd then I asked them I am not sure of how much size my belongings will occupy. After putting all the boxes and then bed , they showed me that it occupied around 325 cu ft.Then I flew to Atlanta the next night and after landing I saw three messages were on my Vonage phone on 1/4/2009, that I should pay again around 500 dollars extra before my belongings were loaded on a truck. I asked them why and they said that your belongings exceeeded the expected size and we are calculating at 5.75 per cuft extra and cam around 1900 dollars which is far surprising to me. I argued with agent named Kim from United Relocation and I explained to her clearly that, see When I requested for a quote I am not sure how much it will occupy and You already will know how much it will occupy after I gave you what the items are.
She said yes, but we agreed for only 200 cu ft . Then I said 200 cu ft is not my concern, but my concern is why did your agent give me wrong estimate even after giving what my belongings are? She argued and argued and atleast I dropped down and thought let me file a compliant against them and let this belongings reach me and paid the requested money 517 dollars through wetsern union and then they loaded on a truck.
Then the truck reached near my address on 2/14/2008, Then he said that the btruck cannot move into the apartments because the apartments gates are very small and the roads are narrow.
He requested 400 dollars and he said I need to rent a Uhaul truck and then put the goods inside your apartment or else I will everything on the road here and you move them into your apartment. It is like a blackmail to me. Then I again calld KIm and she said pay 350 dollars and they will move inside. By the time I bought the money from ATM, I saw them loading on a small ford truck instead of an UHaul. The joke here is the workers who are supposed to move the goods inside are already waiting behind the truck, before the truck driver started talking to me. He literally was blackmailing me, give 350 dollars or I will drop them here, I have some other belonging also to drop of at other locations. So totally I paid 2300 instead of 1090 which they quoted. I was really pissed off they behaved with me and the way they talked to me after taking my belongings. SO
I want to file a complaint against these people.
