Complaint Review: United Comfort - United Restoration

United Restoration, LLC negligence rip off Florida

I requested service from United Comfort/United Restoration to clean the vents of the house last January. The representative cleaned the furnace and retaped the vent which I presumed was done diligently since they are the professionals.

Yesterday, Pacific Gas and Electric came by to check furnace prior to relighting the furnace's pilot light. He discovered that the furnace's vent was disconnected to the flue which can cause fire. He quickly disconnected the gas line of our furnace and advise us to call the company who cleaned the furnace and retaped the vent.

United Comfort Inc./United Restoration claims that warranty work was 30 days and I would have to pay for the services for them to come back. I have no knowlegde of their negligence until PGE check the furnace this week.

I feel failed to accept responsibility for such negligence as their work could have cause fire in our house. The customer service refused to accept to fix the problem unless I pay them again for their services. I refused to pay them for a work that was poorly done to begin with.

I mentioned that I will report them to the Better Business Bureau of their negligence and poor customer service but their customer service person simply wrote me off.

The service was done January 17, 2003 and was discovered by PG&E yesterday Nov.3. The license number of United Comfort/United Restoration, LLC is # 757595.

Where can I file this type complaint. Their negligence could have cause fire and who knows, could be lives of people. Consumers should be made aware of their bad business practices.

Thank you,

Loren

As an HVAC contractor I think the company should have sent someone out to at least check the situation. I also think that the gas company employee made a big deal out of a minor problem and caused you un-needed worry. It usually only takes a minute or two to re-connect a vent pipe. If United Restoration cared about their customers they would have come out and corrected the problem. That is the only way a company builds a loyal customer base in the community.

Registrar of Contractors investigates complaints

This is the state body we file complaints of this type with in Arizona - I'm sure California has something similar, but it may mean doing more skimming through the gov't section of the phone book than anyone would prefer.

They investigate complaints and try to assist the consumer with any valid complaints they have. They helped my husband and I with a jerk of an air conditioning contractor - ended up with new central air unit.

Good luck!
