Entered into contract for siding and windows on 11/06. In mid December started calling Larry Dwyer (salesman) about renovation schedule and did not return phone calls. Called office and left numerous messages. Has a seven different phone numbers listed. Left messages for owner, Mike Sciubba, and he never returned calls. Got his cell # 609-405-8831 and was able to get him on a Friday 1/19/07, (he was very surprised that I got his cell number.)

He had a number of excuses but promised show up that Saturday with firm schedule. He never showed. Started to investigate him and his firm. They are SCAM artist who have bilked numerous homeowners, senior citizens suppliers. Civil suits are on file in Atlantic, Bergen, Camden, Cumberland and Atlantic Counties.

Goes under the names: United Roofing Construction, United Builders, United Exteriors in Turnersville, Blackwood and Laurel Springs, New Jersey.

Contacted the Better Business Bureau and they were no help at all. I know of THREE other homeowners who have filed complaints with the BBB about him, yet they had none on file.

Beware - Deceptive Business Practices, Theft.

CLARIFICATION

#14Consumer Suggestion

Frank, we had to give credit where credit is due. Of course no one is happy that we had to go through nine yards of b.s. just to get United's attention.

I stand by everything else that I have reported, minus the corrections that I made.

The only thing I said was that my attorney had gotten CALLS from United attempting to settle. My attorney HAS NOT RECEIVED ANY REFUND OFFERS.

In any case, phone calls are a positive first step, that's all it is. Until someone's check clears their bank, their case souldn't be considered closed by any means.

SO WHY DID YOU/WE HAVE TO GET A LAWYER INVOLVED TO GET HIS ATTENTION, HE HAS NOT REACHED OUT TO ME TO RESOLVE OUR MATTER AND UNTIL I HAVE THE CASH IN MY HAND I WON'T SEE ANY PROGRESS, JUST LIP SERVICE.

YOU SEEM TO BE DOING 180'S WITH OUT ANY RESULTS YET ?!@?!?!?!?

I am happy for your positive news, and agree with you that some information we had at the time may not have been accurate.

I can report that Michael is reaching out and calling people, and he seems interested in straightening out all problems.

I can also say that Michael has been in contact with my attorney, and did express an interest in getting my situation resoved.

updates will follow. Positive news from United and Michael Sciubba...good.

CORRECTION

#14Author of original report

Thu, February 08, 2007

CORRECTION: I have settled my situation with United Roofing to the complete satisfaction of both of us. To the best of my knowledge, United Roofing / Mike Sciubba did not enter into our contract with the intent of scamming or ripping off a consumer. Any statement made concerning other contracts or situations were posted using the best information available at the time and this information may have been open to subjective interpretation. Each situation should be viewed on its own merits and, as in some cases, there are two sides to every story. I have requested that my post be modified, to be more accurate to the facts of my situation but this does not appear to be possible.
The most important aspect is an open line of communication. Once this was established, we worked through our issues to our satisfaction. The only thing I can add is to call him directly and he assured me he would respond and work things out.

POLICE CAN FIND THIEF MICHAEL SCIUBBA

#14Consumer Suggestion

Tue, February 06, 2007

Hey Jackie,
I filed criminal Charges against this loser. He is well known to the Police and the Camden County Div. of Consumer Protection.

I urge you to file Criminal Charges when you can. The Police will find him and arrest him, just like they did when I charged the incompetent pudgy loser.

We can all pool our resources and agree to testify at each others court hearings. Together we can shut the metal barred doors on this CONVICTED CRIMINAL, and stop more victim;s from being made.

Tell everyone you can about him, and go to yellowpages.com and superpages.com and leave customer comments at each of his listings.

The best place to start is to file your own Ripoffreport. You are registered and the more individual reports the better. Report the facts so that other consumers can relate to your situation and thread responses will follow.

I too am I UNHAPPY United Builders customer. I recently signed a contract, and like everyone else cannot get anyone to answer the phones. I cannot file criminal charges until 22nd of February, but I am wondering how you settled your case so fast. I currently filed a complaint with the NJ Department of Consumer Affairs. I also filed with the BBB (which I hear is useless), but since I had my speech all typed up already it was simple cut and paste job. Please let me know how you were able to catch these CROOKS.

Be careful when selecting a contractor. Do your homework and contact a contractors association for suggestions. BBB is NOT a good source. My situation with United Builders has been settled.

FILE CRIMINAL CHARGES

#14Consumer Suggestion

Fri, January 26, 2007

Hi Jack. I have some suggestions for you. I filed a rip off report on United and Sciubba, also.

I filed Criminal charges against him in Camden County, NJ. I think you should also file complaints with NJ Div. of Consumer Affairs. Mike Sciubba and United have numerous open cases.

I have been in contact with an Inv. Kulina from Consumer Affairs, and he says Sciubba and United Roofing will have their NJ contractor's license revoked very soon.

Michael Sciubba is a CONVICTED FELON, and did not disclose this on his contractor's license application. That is a fourth degree crime in NJ.

Michael Sciubba also has numerous indictments pending, and pretty soon will be making license plates for the state of NJ instead of masqueradeing as a builder!!

I am also suing him individually, as well as his salesmen. I also reported him to channel 10 investigators and fox 29 undercover. I suggest you do the same, and maybe they'll get on the case.

Just beware Jack, I am a publice employee and Sciubba came to my work and tried to get me fired by making up false allegations. Who knows what he will try with you. Let's get together and put this guy away. We'll all testify at each others court cases.

Good Luck !!!
