Yesterday afternoon, April 27, 2013, two nice appearing young men came to my door.  One claimed to be the grandson of one of my neighbors, the older lady who walks her dog every day.

He and his buddy were trying to pay half of the $4,000 cost of going to London on a school sponsored trip and his dad said he had to come up with his share of the money.  He had several antidotes about his dad and his conservative ideas which, of course, sounded legitimate to me.  Both young men were very open, chatty and completely at ease.  Even asked me if I had some chores they could do for me.

I really thought I was scam proof because I am so skeptical of all phone calls, internet offers, etc. etc. but these two "charmers" had me convinced that if I bought the subscription I could donate it to service personnel overseas.  I felt I could help them and do something for the troops as well.

After giving them my check for $102 for two subscriptions and thinking even then it seemed really expensive, they went on their way.  It was after examining the "receipts" in detail after they left I knew I had been scammed.

My story is identical to another one already posted.  I feel totally upset with myself and do realize that putting in a stop payment on the check on Monday will do no good.  I'm sure it has been cashed
