United Services Man with a foreign accent tried to get my checking account information Las Vegas Nevada
I received a call from a man with a thick accent stating his name was Steve Martin (interesting name for a guy with a East Indian accent) who said he was from United Services. He stated I had been selected as one of 10 families in my city to receive a $3,000 dollar online shopping spree and vacation. He asked me if I had ever filed for bankruptcy and then asked me for my checking account information to verify this.
Gratefully, I am not that gullible and asked him why he needed by checking account information for this reason. I told him that I was not accustomed (I never do this for anyone in person or otherwise) to giving out my personal financial information over the phone. At this point, he stated, I do not want to force you to do anything and hung up the phone.
I called him back as his number was on my cell phone (Steve Martin (347) 594-2579). He answered with "Hello" (not - Hello this is Steve from United Services, how can I help you). This was a dead give away. I informed him that I had gone on the internet and researched United Services and found out this was a scam and that I was going to report him.
I hope to spare others financial loss.
