I received two voicemails from a man with a heavy middle eastern or african accent telling me that there was a criminal case against me for fraud. He said that I needed to call him otherwise he did not know what would happen to me. After the second voicemail, I called. The number, 202-715-0902, appeared to be a cell phone because there was a ringtone of music.

When he answered and I told him who I was, he hesitated and then said, " Oh my God, you are in so much trouble! I have been trying to contact you to help you. They are coming to arrest you! Let me get some information from you so that I can help you." I then told him that I knew this was a scam and that I was contacting my local police. He told me not to otherwise they would arrest me!

I filed a report with my local sherrif's office. I was relieved to see that others have also received these calls.

REPORT THIS SCAMSTER TO THE TELEPHONE COMPANY SECURITY AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT

This is a SCAM that is similar to the "hitman for hire" scheme where you get a call from a dude with a similar type of accent who claims that he was hired to kill you but if you send him about $15,000 or $20,000 ( maybe more, maybe less) he won't kill you.

I would take the voice message to the police or have them come over and listen to them and maybe they will be there when he calls.

I hope you did not give him any indication of who you were or where you lived.

After you file charges and advise the security at the telephone company, I would get an unlisted and unpublished number or just switch to a cell phone.

Just for fun, I would see if such a company was listed in the phone book and I would see what my caller ID showed for him, to see which number he was calling from.

Or you could do what I used to do when I got crank calls...By the time I was finished with that stupid low life, he or she, didn't matter, NEVER WANTED TO SEE MUCH LESS USE OR EVEN PICK UP ANOTHER TELEPHONE RECEIVED IN THEIR LIFE. They used to cry online and scream and slam that phone down. Pretty soon,I ran out of playmates because they stopped calling and I got put on the original DO NOT CALL LIST. I learned this from my cousin who is probably THE MASTER of CRANK CALLS IN REVERSE. THE CRANKS CALL THE HOUSE, THE FEAR FACTOR GETS REVERSED, JUSTICE IS SERVED.

Good luck! I would still report this perv to the police whether or not the company he claims is real or not...

The same man left another message today stating that this was the last time he would call and if I did not call him back that I had no idea what was about to happen to me. After the initial call last week, I filed a report with my local police. I plan to call the detective again to give further information. This time, the man left a different phone number, 310-775-9069.
