United States Postal Service does not deliver mail when carrier is on vacation Vallejo California
We did not receive mail in our area (confirmed with neighbors) for two days last week and now two days this week. We had a similar issue last year and were basically informed that we were not a priority service area (we are in one of the older neighborhoods in the city) and refered to as the "ghetto" (obviously the post master has never been to our neighborhood) and our route is assigned last, if no one shows up to work, we don't get a carrier.
The community complained last year and notified our local news organizatin who ran a story about our issue. We did not get any satisfaction out of our post master who is over 40 miles away in Oakland, CA.
What we were able to find out this week is that our carrier is on vacation and our mail sits in the post office until they can find someone to deliver our mail. As with any buisness, the work still must be done whether or not staff is on vacation, sick or otherwise, why is it not the same for this buisness?
The post office as we know must be changed. Isn't it time to abolish this pseudo-governmental authority and let private enterprise take over so we have some redress? We need some way to hold them accountable for their inaction and lack of abillity.
