United Telemedia-New Value Club This company scammed me out of over $13,000 with an elaborate internet scam Ripoff involving test-marketing my product for home shopping Miramar Florida
In 2001, United Telemedia contacted me via e-mail to say that they were interested in one of the products on my small website - breastfeedingbasics.com. The product was an electric breastpump for working mothers.
The company offered to promote and sell my product on multiple national TV stations, as a "test-market" for the Home Shopping Club and QVC.
They said they would make a promotional video, show the advertisement multiple times a day, reach millions of people, send me the orders, and let me keep all the profits for 90 days. At that time, if the "test-marketing" was successful, the product would be put on major shows such as QVC and the Home Shopping Channel, and the company would receive a percentage of the profits.
I invested over $13,000, plus expenses to travel to FL to film the video.
It all seemed on the up and up, but I never received a dime. I did get a copy of the video, and it was very professionally done. I still have it - I call it my $15,000 video, and it's all I ever got from this company.
I have heard rumors in the past about there being a class action suit against United Telemedia and its subsidiaries, and was wondering if anyone out there knows anything about this lawsuit. Is the company still in operation? Is there a lawsuit, and if so, what is the statute of limitations on filing?
I hope that someone out there will read this and give me any information they have about this scam. It's probably too late to do anything about it, but you never know. I hate to see these creeps get away with this.
