A friend of mine ordered an accounting course through the internet from Universal Accounting in November of 2003. After receiving the course he found it was not for him so he sent the material back to the company requesting his money back. The company refunded him only $30.00 of his money. I called numerous times on his behalf to request for the remainder of his money and Mr. Allen Bostrom the owner told me that he was being nice in refunding Mr. Jones the $30.00 back and that he did not have to refund him the remainder.

When I keep calling to request for the remainder of Mr. Jones money from Mr. Bostrom he and his coworkers at the company changed the story and said the reason he would not be refunded is because one disk was scratched. I told him that was not possible and that it must have gotten scratched on their side since Mr. Jones took great care of the material.

The last I talked to Mr. Bostrom or anyone who worked for him, the story changed again and they said they they would not refund Mr. Jones his money because two disks were destroyed. I feel that Mr. Jones has been defrauded and ripped off by this company. We would like your assistance in helping Mr. Jones get his total amount of money back. Mr. Jones did not destroy the material. The total owing to his is $237.00

Contrary to Tina's complaint, the sale actually occured October 9, 2003. Three months later, the course was returned.

Mr. Jones did not qualify for any refund under our guarantee, but in an effort to maintain goodwill, we granted him an exception to the policy and accepted his return, forgiving him his current balance of $868 (original tuition of $1085), charging a 20% restocking charge (which in March 2004 was reduced to 15%) as the DVD's were damaged and unusable.

Tina contends that we placed the scratches on the DVD ourselves. This certainly would not have benefited anyone - we would have gladly been able to use the DVD's and lowered the restocking charge. As Tina is an unrelated third-party in this transaction, I question how she is so knowledgeable of Mr. Jone's handling of the materials.

We have consistently responded to Mr. Jone's "Legal Assistant", Tina, in a professional, rational manner. In return she has been harassing and beligerent with us. Though we tried to be overly gracious by granting Mr. Jones a special exception, Tina feels that justice (and fairness) only goes one way.
