I purchased a car on or about the 15 or 16 of May 2013. When the car was purchased I was informed that the motor for the window needed to be fixed in addition to that the car needed a new battery and a handle for the door. After purchasing the car I took it to get fluids in it because it started shaking on my way home from the dealership the fluids that were placed in the car were antifreeze, 5 quarts of oil, in addition to freon, and transmission fluid. That did not stop the car from shaking so I immediately called the dealership and told them that I no longer wanted the car. I was told to bring the car up there the next dayand so I did.

The next day I went up to the dealership and I was told that they could do nothing, I could not return the car to get a refund, nor could I return the car for another one. The staff there were rude, lacked professionalism, lacked integrity and could not demostrate good customer service at all. This was the worst car buying experience that I have ever had and I know that I will never again go to Universal Auto Plaza.

I just wanted to add that a similar situation just happened to me and my boyfriend. We bought a car yesterday, all in cash, but as we were test driving it we found some problems that we said needed to be fix so we can buy it. The people there said they were fixing it and preceded us to pay for the car. As we were paying for it the financial manger explained that when they were finished doing their part to go up the street to get the car realigned but that they will pay the bill. So when they finished our car we went to go towards the auto place and less then 20 feet from the car dealership the car brakes down. We go back, they explain it's a battery thing, they'll give us a new one and have it fixed soon. Since we'd been there all day we got some food and by 7:20, just before choosing time, they were ready. We tried to go to the auto shop but it was closed by this time so we started home, we only made it about 2 minutes away from the dealership when it broke down again. By the time we got back to the dealership they were closed for the night. So the next morning we called but even though their website says they open at 9:00 am no one answered. We decided to drive the hour drive to get this fixed, what basically happened after much non communication and horrible communication along themselves and towards us was that they stated that everything they agreed to was not written down so they will do nothing for us, went trade, money back or tow or fix it or even pay for the realignment. They said it was our problem now and get off they're property. In the wait it took to get this answer we meet a man whom was trying to get the money the owed him for the car they bought from him but after their employee took the receipt from the man and lost it the dealership's answer was that with no receipt they can't give him the money nor his car back. Really, what kind of place is this? It's just horrible to know that these people exist and are allowed to do such despicable things.

What Does The Warranty Say?

You say the car needed a window motor, battery and door handle.  With these very obvious problems, you STILL bought the car!  You say it was "shaking".  Did you take this car on a test drive before buying it?  Then you say you added all those fluids.  Did you check these fluids prior to purchase?  Did you get a warranty with the car or did you buy it "AS IS"?  If you bought it "AS IS", why would you now expect free warranty service?

What happened here is the car had OBVIOUS problems!  However, rather than passing on this car or telling them to fix them BEFORE you bought it, you decided to buy it anyway.  Next time, take somebody with you who knows what they are doing.

An automobile that is five quarts low on oil would have performed very poorly during the test-drive. The engine should have seized up within a few miles.

How did the car perform during the test-drive?
