Universal Gas & Electric Corporation misled me on gas prices soaring and being able to cancel at anytime Southfield Michigan

Roger Roe came into my store 08/11/06 telling me about a new gas company that would save me money on my gas bill. He said Consumers Energy would be increasing their rates and that with Universal Electric I would be able to lock in my rate and also they would go down each year for the next five years. I asked what if Consumers did not raise their prices. he said I could cancel at any time. So I signed the paper work.

Two months later Consumer lowered their prices. so I faxed them asking to cancel my contract on 10/11/06. On 11/08/06 I received a letter stating that it cost me $4009.50 to get out of my contract. I called them to explain that their salesman told me that I could cancell at any time. they said that is not what I signed for on their contract. I then received another letter from them 11/22/06 stating that I could get out of the contract for $3962.64. I just figured it would be another one of those issues of "I should read everything before signing" things. but I took Mr. Roe at his word.
