Complaint Review: Universal Gas & Electric

Universal Gas & Electric They are claiming I broke the contract and want $250.00. I did not break this contract. My wife and I lost our home to foreclosure Southfield Michigan

We signed with Universal Gas& Electric in 2007. My wife and I have ran a licensed day care from our home for seventeen years but due to Michigan's very poor economy we lost many of the kids in our care and never recovered. We tried to make our mortgage payments even asking several churches to help. Despite our best effort we lost our home to foreclosure. After we moved out a man named Tony Schmidt a realtor notified Consumers that we had moved out from that address. When we signed up with Universal Gas & Electric they told us if we signed with them we would pay less for natural gas then we were paying with the supplier called Energy America. This was not the case. It was costing us more with Universal Gas & Electric. Because we owed Consumers money when my wife and her mother moved in together we put consumers in her name. She would not want Universal to be our gas supplier because it would cost us more for natural gas through Universal. I feel that under the sercommstance we do not owe Universal $250.00 that they are claiming we owe for breaking the contract. They are just acting out of greed and do not care one bit about the hardships my wife and I went through. When I got their fisrt letter I called Universal and told them what had happened. They didn't care. They just want their money! I did not break the contract just for the heck of it.
