I received a check on 11/4/2008 in which had a date of june 20th, 2008,saying that I was a winner of $55,000.00 through a random computer ballot. It states that the amount of $1.1 million US Dollars were shared and presented to other 20 declared winnwr people. The check is so we can pay the government tax fees. They even tell you to use money gram located at Wal Mart stores to pay those taxes. The check looks very real, it comes from Capital One Bank located at 1515 poydras st New Orlans, LA 70112. The check even has ink marks. I will take the check personaly tomorrow to Capital One bank and let you know about a very possible profesional scam.!!

Its been out there for years - do an internet search on Lottery Scams and see what comes up!

Right here on ROR - under consumer alerts:
Never cash checks you were not expecting to receive and never wire transfer money to people you do not know.

The check is bogus - LEGITIMATE LOTTERIES will not send you a check to pay your taxes with! They come out before you ever see a dime of those winnings. COMMON SENSE!

Don't fall the Mystery Shopping checks either!

No business is going to send checks for large sums of money blindly to anyone.
