Complaint Review: University of Alabama Birmingham

In Sept of 2015 I had a stress test at Universtiy of Alabama in Birmingham. I then had a heart stint put in and had another stress test done. For each test I was charged 100.00 dollars for a "facility fee".

This is something I found out they started charging in 2014 but I have not had tests like this done in between those times. The insurance company does not pay this so the full amount comes out of my pocket on top of copays and deductables. They already charge God awful amounts to the insurance and now they have found a way to get more from the individual.

This is greediness on the part of the administrators and I would like to see something done about their gouging of people. They told me "that Duke and some other hospital make these charges" and I asked if the administrator of Duke jumped off a cliff would there's follow.

They charge for other tests also but I am not sure for what or how much. It is hard to get a breakdown of all the charges and I am working on that now.

This should be disclosed before any test is done.

I will be looking for facilities that do not make these stupid charges and will change. They would then lose at least 75,000 the next time I have a heart problem. How would they recoup that lose? Greediness is all this is.
