I was harshly retaliated against in a southern-justice like manner by Dr. Cathy Scroggs, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, as a result of bringing legitimate sexual harassment issues to the University's attention. This sexual harassment was such a pattern it has been pursued in court due to the several teaching careers of women professors and instructors Sherod Santos ruined. He retired early as a result.

At the same time these upsetting events were happening I was also being subjected to frequent street harassment in the community and on campus for discriminatory and perceived protected-class reasons. The University, spearheaded by Cathy Scroggs, used this as an opportunity to harshly retaliate against me. They misrepresented the harassment, blaming me for it, making it a police issue, and sending a complaint about it to the Student Judicial Affairs office.

Due to the privacy issues involved, which the university had a professional and legal obligation to honor-- but refused-- I was later expelled and lost my teaching job.( I refused to show up at a public trial when I had been the one aggressed upon and privacy laws give me the right not to share the personal information a trial would have required.) I had been chosen as one of three applicants out of hundreds to join that competitive Mizzou program, so I'm fairly capable in the minds of those who have eyes to see. Many country people do not seem to.

Due to filing a formal civil rights complaint with the federal Department of Education I later lost my regular staff job as well. All this treatment constitutes illegal retaliation and was all based on being treated offensively and differently due to perceived protected class status that has no bearing on my abilities to work, study, or teach. It's extremely bad faith and a violation of human rights and decency. Such behavior appears deeply entrenched in lower-Midwestern and southern culture. Parents train up their kids to behave in an aggressive, scripted way toward women, those perceived to have physical limitations,  and/or the elderly. This is insulting to those with healthy self-respect who enjoy their independence.

These people are not God's gifts, and they are not entitled to force unwanted attention on complete  strangers. They are actually frightening people though they love to congratulate themselves about how friendly and helpful they are. Bottom line, they are robbing competent people of equal education and employment rights. I've been physically grabbed before and/or had my belongings grabbed by these yahoos. If this is supposed to be good will, helpfulness, or kindness, count me out. It's my right to be left alone and to be able to commute from point A to point B without being molested.

I would have been glad to relocate and try to restart my life, but false police reports by people like Sharon Black caused me further complicated legal problems. Even though  the police report as the result of one main street harassment incident in the library  said no physical threat was perceived by the librarian staff person who aggressively and insultingly  approached me, this incident was misrepresented several times: it  first was claimed by the Student Judicial Affairs and Cathy Scroggs that  I had assaulted someone and then that I had pulled someone's hat off by Sharon Black.

Sharon Black made this false report to my new employer's campus police department when I tried to move. Because of the retaliatory motive involved( obviously no real threat or danger was involved) the cops from a local campus in my new town showed up at my teaching classroom and caused me to lose another job. The police investigator involved, John Bakker, was later voted cop of the year. That is what a punitive , unjust society we live in. The liars reap all of the rewards.

The University of Missouri refuses to respect privacy and civil rights laws, and they have no problem abusing their police power at the behest of the administration. I tried to report Sharon Black for making a false police report, and I was turned away by the Mizzou police department. I was on the wrong side( even though I was right). The University police only serves the interests of administration, even when they are dead wrong and acting in vindictive, southern-justice ways.

They take down false reports, and then they use these to vindicate themselves. They even create false police reports, so they can justify harshly punishing people and robbing them of their rights. Even though I tried to make civil rights complaints, The Department of Education put the same guilty people from Mizzou in charge of "investigating" the complaints who had wronged me. My sexual harassment complaints were subpoenaed by other scholars facing the same issue, but I doubt they helped much: the university administration is full of such liars, especially Cathy Scroggs.
