I completed four classes at University of Phoenix, ground. I received fair grades for three classes, however that fast paaced non-sense didn't allow me to really learn I memorized researchd topics and wrote about it. My team mates in the past three classes were not so bad. However this class, one team mate disappeared, the other was a Nascar man and had no real time for school and the third sent me an email saying that I was bugging her.

That she had a life outside of UOP and not to call or email her again, I complied with her wishes. I immediately sent the emails I had received to my instructor and my counselor they did nothing and because the other two class teams had five people each already I was stuck with these lames. I received a 90 on the final exam in the MGT 331 class taught by someone that was not all there.

I received full 100% credit for my Net G assignments and my Disc Platinum Rule Assessment assignment. All of my personal papers received a grade of 87 or better, get this I received a D+ because my team sucked.

The instructor was willing to change my grade at first after I pleaded and explained that i had tried to get the team together , I also did my share of the team work, i didn't know tha they were not going to copmplete their share and bring in the paper until the night of class. Oops too late, the instructor would no accept the paper after 10 pm the night of class.

I have sent in a formal complaint to Robert Sizemore of student affairs and Dr. Kocharyan the dean. Neither have reponded nor have they returned any of my phone calls. All I get is answering machines.

I implemented one of the student affairs employeee's in my complaint. Low and behold a few days later they said that i was violating their rules and I was under suspension. I had already transferred to Strayer first all second of all I did nothing wrong except file a complaint, seems like retaliation to me. I was warned not to contact any students or instructors at UOP or I would be in violation of some code.

Any way I too would like to start a class action suit against the UOP.

Join me.

Anyone know how to send out a mass email?

Thanks Wendy

Wendy i appreciate your honesty. i have called schools in my area, UNCC and Johnson C Smith they all accept credits from UOP. HOwver the team situation is ridiculous and to be honest with you my learning experience was not so good. How much can you learn about a particular subject in a fast paced five week crash course.

I appreciate the advice about looking into a community college. However I'll be a few credit shy of a senior this year and the community colleges here are for Associate degrees.

Thanks a bunch though,

Yes, UofP has problems but don't rule out grads

I'm a UofP graduate (2001 BSBA), and, no, this isn't a "shortcut" school as promoted. Those of us who've made it through have typcically done the work of 3 students and deserve three degrees!

So only short-sighted employers would rule these grads out. Our degrees are valid and we've worked hard - too hard - to earn it.

Now on the misleading tactics, yep UofP is greedy and misrepresents itself. There are no shortcuts as promised. The classes are too expensive and the instructors usually lack a teaching background. Really...if it was as easy as they say, then they wouldn't be accredited, right?

My recommendation is to go the community college route as much as possible. Classes are cheap and easy. I couldn't recommend UofP personally because of their "group learning arrangement" which is utterly ridiculous and the school's high tuition. Chances for failure at UofP are 95%.

But are UofP fake degrees? NOT ONE BIT. Why would a grad from another school balk and question its validity?

Tracey,

I avoid Strayer, DeVry, and Phoenix. Undoubtly there are diamonds in the rough. Unfortunately, these schools are not particulary strong. I hate seeing people working so hard and getting so little.

I didn't graduate from college until later in life myself. 5 years of going at night, three classes a semester. I eventually got an MBA. The classroom experience was a huge part of what I got out of school.

In grad school I had the lots of group projects. We'd get together after class, or on weekends. Once again, my fellow students helped make it worth my while.

Check with the local brick and mortar schools. See how many of them would accept credits from Phoenix. That might help you understand what you are paying for (both in money and sweat!).

You do need your degree. I got my BS at 30 & my MBA at 37. I can't tell you what a difference it has made.

Don't give up on the dream. Get to class. What you get will come from what you give. You sound like you wanted to work hard, but got no support.

Look into your local schools. I wish you luck!

I appreciate your comment. I didn't know. I just thought as a single mom 41 years of age and a full time employee, I needed to get my degree. the stressed that it was for adults and would suit my busy schedule. I wasn't looking for an easy way out. I have attended LIU for two years and UNCC for one year and found it difficult at my age to attend school with teeny boppers. i was jsuting seeking an adult experience when I went back to school. It turned out to be a nightmare.

Would you hire me if I graduated from Strayer Univ.

Your comment would be more tha appreciated.

That is what happens when you try to buy a diploma from a phony school.

That is what happens when you try to buy a diploma from a phony school. I wouldn't hire a 'graduate' of your school if they'd work for free. They have already proved that they are looking for shortcuts.
